speedyquest
Here we go... There has been plenty of topics started on this and your going to mostly hear don't do it, a few that say do it, and the rest will talk about how its unsafe. I think that about covers it right? questsale
How is it less safe? Because its more difficult to steer at low speeds? Even with a higher geared rack?

Convette
Why remove powersteering? So you gain .2hp and lose 5lbs to make you car drive like butt cheeks? I guess if all you do is go straight.. Edited February 12, 2014 by Convette
Edde
^^^^ not to even mention the time and effort.
questsale
I am upgrading to a real steering rack. I want to eliminate the pump, and all the lines. Cleaner engine bay, less working adapting existing lines to new rack lines. I dont care about any potential performance gains. I already acquired a complete front AE86 subframe which can house a OE manual MR2 rack that sell brand new for $120. I only need to figure out how to make the tie rods work. So I am considering going manual. Now that your curiosity can be set aside, I'm looking for feedback from folks here who run a manual rack. Is it a true manual, or is it depowered. Looking for feedback. Thanks Edited February 12, 2014 by questsale
speedyquest
The steering box from the mighty max that he is referring to is full manual.
Starion86ESI
The steering box from the mighty max that he is referring to is full manual. I think he is talking about a manual rack and pinion.
