dukaine
Just an update Finally I have gotten back to working on the quest since it has warmed up and I have just about have it licked. I have replaced the head gasket a 2nd time now and did a very thorough job on the prep work this time. I also discovered a bad primary injector. Right now the car is in my buddy's trans shop because a seal or bushing must have went haywire and is dumping out trans fluid. He is going to put in new seals and clutches in and plus do a once over to check the tranny. I hadn't gotten the the primary injector yet but its on the way but i drove the car there running the secondary injector as the primary and it ran dam good. I do need to readjuster the IAC but im waiting to get a good injector in it then it will be play time. I am still looking for a 88 etacs and radio mounting parts along with some odds and ends stuff but its coming along.
dukaine
Here is the injector cleaner i made. No air compressor is needed for this setup. I used 2 alligator clips, wire, injector clip from a junkyard, Momentary switch, lower part of a syring container, masking tape(i had also tried electrical tape but it seemed to break down with the carb cleaner while the masking take doesnt), carb cleaner, and a container to spray into. As u can see in the picture i ran a wire to the negative on the battery from the injector clip and the same from the positive side but on the positive side i also wired in the momentary switch to control the injector.http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae334/duko111/IMG_20140408_160925_553.jpg Ok nevermind the electrical tape here, because when i took the pictures was the time i tried this out with electrical tape. I would suggest masking tape or something else that wont break down in carb cleaner.http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae334/duko111/IMG_20140408_161351_352.jpg With masking tape i taped the ends of the injectors so they would fit tight in the syring tube. I did both ends so i could run injector cleaner forward and backwards through injectors to get them and clean as possible. I am not sure if this is recommended but its what i had to do to get mine clean. I didn't show it in this picture but i also trim the excess tape off the end with a utility knife.http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae334/duko111/IMG_20140408_161544_923.jpg next i biult up a bit of tape on the end of the straw that comes with the carb cleaner then pulled the straw the inside the syring tight so it seals. Then inserted the injector like so.http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae334/duko111/IMG_20140408_161655_539.jpg Depending on how tight of a seal you have with the injector u may have to hold the syring on the injector with your hand. Pressurize the tube with the carb cleaner then press it through into the container using the momentary switch until you have a nice crisp spray without any drippage. Be generous with the carb cleaner. I used a whole can per injector to get them good and clean.http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae334/duko111/IMG_20140408_161734_525.jpg
dukaine
So whats new with me. My turbo recently took a dump and now I am waiting on the rebuild kit for it. Otherwise my quest runs great. I plan on doing a boost leak test on it. I feel i am missing a bit of power overall and that seems like the most logical.
