strang3majik
The title will make sense later But...I recently got hold of an 87 TSI, white with red guts, and, I'll be honest, the cars a piece, but, I have a plan for it and it'll be a fun street/track car. It currently has a built motor but has a rod knock, so, I'll be pulling it soon and having the crank and rods checked. I started it and it ran for a few seconds and has great oil pressure (a little over half on the gauge), and coolant is green and the oil is clean, so...a guess its a good start. Problems thus far...rear brake line burst (better now then while driving) and I think this is causing the brakes to hang up, the steering wheel feels like its hardly connected to anything (I'm suspecting the coupler), and I don't actually know how the body is as it had a fix attempt at some point that was eh. But, hey, the frame rail is good! Lol. Also, needs intercooler piping...probably just going to buy the mookeh kit. But, got the car from a member on here, he can speak up if he likes, a few of you might recognize the car. Anyhow...I don't have any good pictures yet as its been nothing but cold and rainy here since the day I got it (probably a sign...lol), but, here's a pic from the way home my buddy took of his and my car...lol. Interior was quite nasty, cleaned up pretty nice. Paint is atrocious, but, that'll be sorted out soon Anyway........ Here's a shot, I'll get some tomorrow of it as it is now. Purple power and the green side of a kitchen sponge in the rain cleaned it up nice and white now...lol http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/575094_10150704044662476_652632475_9934906_335513444_n.jpg
natallica
Cool Beans, you're back in the game. Can't wait to see it. However, I don't feel sooo bad about you stealing this one though! Still ticked about the black one. -N8
strang3majik
Well...got it to run today...after chugging to a start and smelling of old gas, it cleared up and actually seemed to run pretty good, especially for running with the maf just attatched to the throttle body...lol Also, no knocking, which is both weird and good at the same time. Only issues are, no power steering, and the fact it was pouring milky colored oil out of the side of the block like a faucet :/ Looks like its coming from the oil filter area, not sure...also not sure why the oil is milky. The coolant in the rad and resovoir are full. I guess it could be condensation from sitting, but, that much, I doubt. I only ran it long enough to move it into the garage though...so...should be okay. I'm pulling the engine anyway to clean it up, etc. Tomorrow...the work begins
strang3majik
Well...it appears I have traded for an absolute piece of crap, so.....if anyone nearby has a parts car with a title with a half decent body I can swap the good stuff on this one over to...please let me know. I was royally screwed. Not only did a brake line break and and the front right caliper now stuck, the body is all bondo, the quarters are barely there, the rockers are no there, just the widebody rocker cover covering the bondoed mess, the bottoms of the front fenders are bondoed, the drivers door jamb.... and I was told the "little bit of rust there was has been "fixed"" Needless to say, I'm a little upset. Started sanding today to paint it and started down low and saw all this. So...this car is scrap. If it didn't need so much fixed I'd probably use it as a drift car or something since I don't really care about the worthless body. Might still do that. So...if anyone has a decent body nearby to Hanover, PA, please lmk. hope vmstsi enjoys my 200sx. strang3majik
Well, decided I'm going to fix the engine and drive it around until I find a better body...less I find one soon. Still does suck though :/ Amazing what 1/2" thick bondo can hide. And, Dale...sorry about that...I cleared it out some.

But...here it is before...note the lack of hole in the fender :/ http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt282/strang3majik/DSC09620.jpg and as of tonight. The title should start making sense now...lol http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt282/strang3majik/DSC09633.jpg Edited April 26, 2012 by strang3majik

Technology
I like it, and since it's a bomber, you can do anything you want to it and not feel bad!
strang3majik
^^^Both of you's approval means on with the project! Haha. Shark teeth tonight And, yes...easy touch up, and if I don't like what I painted...paint over it...hahaha
D_Venable
Needs airbrushed rivets on the edges of every panel now
strang3majik
Lol...If I could stomach the cost of having someone do that...I definitely would. Haha. But...as of tonight. Got the other side started as well, and pulled the scoop off to paint it black with the red going over it. Theres a few spots where the paint bled that I need to touch up on it all...but...no biggie. And don't mind the overspray on the windows. Taping is for furry little meowing creatures A little lacquer thinner or gas and it comes right off. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt282/strang3majik/DSC09665.jpg http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt282/strang3majik/DSC09689.jpg
Technology
I'd recommend dumping it on the ground. and buy a sheet of carbon fibber and use real rivets to attach them over the rust holes.
strang3majik
well, actually...lol I planned on putting thin aluminum over the rust with rivets...lol And, as far as laying it on the ground...I'd like to lower it, but, I still want function as I'll be autocrossing it and such...lol

strang3majik
Lol...it won't end up like that I need to drive it, these things are no fun to look at if you can't get in and drive them...hahah. And, actually pulling the motor later on today, yesterday, my assistance was busy, and I didn't feel like pulling it on my own. :/
