Turbo Oil Return Location

Hello,

I have seen some oil pans that have been welded to receive the turbo oil return line. Is this better than using the stock location? Is there a problem with using the stock location? I will be using an aftermarket T3/T4 with a treadstone exhaust manifild.

You can't use the stock drainback location with the treadstone manifold unless your center cartridge is way up high for whatever reason--the stock turbo sits on top of the manifold not alongside it which is why they can drain back into the timing cover.

 

I just got a 1/2" NPT plug for the timing cover and welded a stainless barb on to the oil pan in between 2 of the bolt holes and as close to the bolt flange as possible.
