starscreamtr Posted June 6, 2011 Report Share Posted June 6, 2011 How yall doin I just baught a 88 conquest tsi 5spd and guy said it needed new motor but im not sure if it does or if it dont car overheats in 5-10 min. Indiana Posted June 6, 2011 Report Share Posted June 6, 2011 Pull the head off with the manifolds attached then pull off the oil pan. The bearings are all washed out from having coolant in the oil and if the gasket wasn't just blown the head is likely cracked. Like you said, it needs rebuilt. You're LUCKY if its not yet knocking and you need rods reconditioned and the crank polished. Right now is the easy time to rebuild and the sticky thread at the top of the forum will show you what to do. Don't run it any more you're just making it worse.
