MidMoTSI
It's hard to get a good temperature reading with the factory gauge since you are only looking at a needle in relation to some lines. After my rebuild I installed an aftermarket Auto Meter water temp gauge. My readings, factory 3/4 = 185 degrees on the aftermarket gauge. It's critical to ensure all cooling components are working correctly to include a clean and unclogged radiator. I believe the primary fan sensor causes the fan to come on at 190 degrees and the secondary fan sensor around 210 degrees. At the 220 degree mark expect a blown head gasket or cracked head.
