Anyone completed this swap? I have access to a 92 engine and a shell 89 quest.

Has anyone thought about an electric(battery) conversion for these cars? There are kits that are available for a older 914 and I am courious about this crossover. I am not sure as to the total weight of the conversion kit but I believe in the long run it could be a fun project.

TylerQuest, Check PM ps. I may have a switch problem on the 88 (after searching thru the posts) The pump comes on when doing the bat to fuel pump test but still no spark. Just offering all info I can.

I know this is a LAZY mans way out, but I need a car running as soon as possible. I have a 87 with what may be a cracked head :cry: , coolant coming out of exhaust side of engine, (close to firewall) and a 88 (previous flood vehicle with replaced parts) that does not start, no spark but the fuel pump (according to pump test) is operational. I have read thru several forum post and have come up with just ideas but I'm not a mechanic nor do I have the time to check all that needs to be checked :wink: . I would like to know a QUOTE as to how much shipping from Del Rio Texas to your location and back would be for the 88 (easier to fix ) and the cost of repairs to include parts and your labor. Again, I know this is the LAZY mans way out :roll: but I do not have the time to troubleshoot these vehicles the way they should be done. Help me get one of these cars running Thank you for your time.

What engine swap options are there that fit the stock 87 5 speed tranny? Something that does not require body mods. I know the D50, but anything else?

Fellows, Is this 4g6 swap plug and play with the stock 5 speed transmission? I have a 87 quest with what may be a cracked head - water flows from exhaust side of engine :cry: - and may have access to a motor. Looking for one that is plug and play.

Has anyone tried to repair a 88 knockbox? I have a spark problem and do not want to upgrade to a new ignition system yet and do not want to spend extra money on a new knock box.
