knightrider56
does anyone have any pics on turbo seals, or wear they are located?
Indiana
they usually get so coated with coked burned oil that's why they go bad but the bearings wear and the seals can't seal, there is NO such thing as a "water" seal in a mitsubishi turbo cartridge the rear seal is just a tiny thin metal band that rides in a groove, so is the front one the rear one http://www.b2600turbo.com/images/IM001402.JPG front one http://www.b2600turbo.com/images/IM001447.JPG you can clean up an old turn, removed the burned oil and sometimes FIX the problem completely, you'll need a wire wheel attachement on a bench grinder to make it easy, a media blaster gets the cardon off the turbine blades and some polishing compound for the shaft and a brush on a dremel tool to clean the cartridge and oil grooves http://www.b2600turbo.com/truck_20g.htm all cartridges for mitsu turbos are pretty much the same that link will show you one torn down I've also taken parts from dead turbos and made good ones http://www.b2600turbo.com/images/IM009620.JPG

Indiana
double ck, you should have a curved back compressor wheel on a big 16g, don't remove the two inner small snap rings they are a pain to get back in and don't really wear at all they just keep the bearings from moving around too much and falling into the center of the shaft cause they float in oil already http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo-Rebui...1QQcmdZViewItem
