Anyway glad to see this community still so alive and i hope to connect with anyone in the state.
  2. I have an 87 Conquest, that has been in the family since new. I may need some advice or parts sources from time to time, so I wanted to say Hello to all of you, and Thank you in advance for any help given.
  3. Hello, my name is James, I live in Lander, Wyoming. I've been rebuilding a 2.0 turbo but I still need a Sirius dash valve cover so if anybody has one they can let go of let me know.
  4. Hey I just moved here from Detroit (drove my 86 quest) I would like to cruse the tail of the dragon would like it if there was more than one quest.
  5. Hey guys, my name is Carlos, and I just recently acquired a long dreaded 87 Conquest TSI. It's my first car, at 16. Little background on her: my parents and I moved to the Vallejo/Benicia area 5 years ago. My dad and I were preaching one day(my parents and I are Jehovah's Witnesses) a d we saw her parked. My dad was instantly shocked, as he had owned one years ago, and started to tell my many stories of him and his Starion. We asked the lady if she was selling it, and she told us to just make her an offer. We didn't have any money so we didn't offer anything. Long story short, for 5 years we would pass by the house just to see if she was still there, and just hoping one day we'd make the money. I graduated, started working, saved up, and voíla! I made her an offer and got a killer deal at only $550. 87k miles. Her father was the first owner, and he inherited it to her. Up to today I've spent about a little over 1G, but she runs The biggest expense were the back fees. From 2002 she hadn't been resgistered. 738 dollas right there alone. My only aftermarket part for now has been a K&N air filter. Things I've had to replace are: fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil, oil filter, belts, and this week the alternator, and cap & rotor. I have big plans for her(her name's Diamond) and I really appreciate such a great forum for all my questions and doubts. Look forward to many more grease keys on my keyboard as I search for the solution to whatever problem I ha?e. More pics will definitely come soon. Thanks guys.
  6. Hey everyone, I am new to the site. I just came into possession to a 87 Starion. My friend tore it down and rebuilt the engine, I get to peice it together. I honestly didn't know anything about these cars until i got one. I'll get some pictures posted soon. I'm sure i'll have lots of questions that i'm sure have been asked before so hopeuflly i'll be able to find them so I don't have to re-ask questions that have been answered. I'm really excited to get this car up and running and back on the road. It has really been growing on me and I love the curves on it. I'm estimating that it will have around 250+ hp. I'll keep posting pictures and I progress getting it back together.
  7. Hey guys, I've been trying to get logged into this forum since Oct 2012. Just picked up a Conquest 88. White w/Red int. It won't pass Ca smog. I have I guy working on it. I'am looking for 1987 front bucket seats. This forum has it all.
  8. ok, first off THANK YOU!!! this site is littered with info on everything you could think of for your StarQuest. (must be why people have a hard time searching on this site lol). so here goes it details: Ok i picked up an 86 TSI for 500 cash, guy said it needed TLC, a windshield, and new injectors. engine did turn over, it is black with a tan hood and headlights. took it home and did a thorough check over, WOW. lots of wires by the injection mixer were spliced together by twisting them, i thought what a nightmare so i open the back hatch and see there is an extra ECU, turbo w/manifold attached, taillight, and "fuselink/relay tree" (hidden behind the battery). hmmmm so i look back under the hood and REALLY look. this car has been wrecked, this is definitely a different engine, explains the extra parts and why part of the car is tan. so i check out where the ECU is located (kickpanel) and right when i get the cover off and put my head down there i see one black ground wire dangling by itself, and another mounted to the PLASTIC blower motor. I thought "how the hell is that gonna work?" i route them appropriately to metal against metal location and the turn the key. fires right up and idles lovely. very noisy though, definitley timing chain slack. order new timing chain kit and install, noise reduces substantially but now there is noise from the top end, Intake side. and it seems like it doesnt run right. took it down the road and it completely falls on its face at WOT but if you just put around it does alright. smokes white around exhaust manifold and compression is 60 across all 4. needs head gasket so i park it and then i found this website and it saved my StarQuest. after an immense amount of searching i found out the engine in my car is from an 87. so is the extra ECU and turbo. The ISC setup is also from the 87 but the turbo on the car is from the 86 because of the intercooler. my car has mechanical rocker setup which HAD to have come from the 86(whole head). explains compression numbers. i find a post for ECU conversion and how to wire ISC to 86 wiring. ok my question..... i ordered new head and gasket kit, and 1G DSM MAS which comes in two days. i have the car completely apart and made appropriate wiring to the isc/mps. sooooooooo..... if any knowledgible questers read this.................. if i make appropiate adjustments to ecu wiring harness to plug into the 87 ECU and wire the MAS correctly, will it work? are there more adjustments to make? Thank you all in advance. oh and what will happen if the balance shaft is not set correctly when replacing timing components?
  9. So I figured I'd post this here as I feel like a newb asking and I didn't see anything about it in my searches. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mitsubishi-Starion-Conquest-T3-Stainless-Turbo-Manifold-/270953464370?hash=item3f1615c232&item=270953464370&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_3255wt_1163 It's a T3 manifold for our (4G54B) cars. Seems like it could spell out G-O-O-D F-U-N But, with good fun also comes the possibility for D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R Let me know what you guys think. I don't mind being the test dummy on this one, I think it'd be interesting.
  10. Hi all, I am picking up my '87 Conquest tomorrow morning. It currently doesn't run. I needs a new head gasket, at least. I already read the newbie checklist, but will be asking advice in the VM section I am sure. My name is Stangman because Mustangs are my first love, but I love the platform of the Starquest. ie L-4, Turbo, 5-speed, RWD. My Dad tells me I have till the end of April to have it driving down the road, and I only have a 1000 dollars to put into it. So I am going to need all the help I can get. Hopefully I can find some of that here. Thank you.
  11. Hello everyone, I have a 1987 Chrysler Conquest TSI that I purchased as a freshman in college (2000). Bought it in California and drove it to North Dakota (that is were I went to college -- long story). After I graduated I was recruited by a web development firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I was laid off in 2009 and moved back to Alabama where I was born. The car sat for 8 years but during that time it has traveled (by trailer) from North Dakota, Minnesota and now Alabama. I wasn't able to afford my truck so now I am getting my TSI ready for the road again. Pictures are on my profile with updates weekly. I am actually glad I was put in my situation cause I really missed working on it. I have so many ideas for it and this site is great. Please feel free to ask any questions or post any comments.
