  1. So I set out Saturday to look at two truck located about 45 mins south of my at a Pick n pull in search of a 4g63 wideblock. Well both trucks were narrow blocks. So then I went another 30 minutes south to look at another truck and Pick n pulls website was wrong because it said it was an automatic. Well I returned home beaten down a bit. I did some more research Saturday night and decided to go with the 4g64. So I headed up to Canada to look at a 90 Ram 50 that was suppose to be an automatic, well it turned out to be a manual but it still had the wideblock!!! So about an hour and a half later we got the engine and tranny out and I took the block with the engine mounts. Well then my buddy saw an eagle talon in the yard and so we checked it out. Well it turned out to be a TSi and the head was in immaculate condition. The head was either just cleaned, rebuilt, or new (doubt it). So we snatched up the head and bolted it to the block to make the purchase for a complete longblock. I also grabbed the engine harness and part of the body harness because I plan to run dsmlink. Then we went across the street to the import pick n pull to check out a turbo rx7 because my buddy wanted the diff. Well the diff turned out to be the wrong one, but he pointed out to me that transmission was the one starquesters use. So I pulled that transmission out pretty easily and took that as well. Overall it was a pretty good hual, I got all the major components for my Conquest from the junk yard, so it was cheap, plus it was all 50% off. I paid $350 for the block(oil pan to the deck), the head with injectors, intake manifold, fuel rail, cas, and the throttle body, an engine harness, most of the body harness, a Turbo II rx7 tranny, and the rx7 drive shaft.
  2. Thought this was interesting. KIA borrowing some designs from mitsubishi? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVpbeTobo-c
  3. Hey everyone, I am looking into getting a starion and was wondering if an engine swap would be worth the trouble if I got one. I was originally thinking just doing a 4g63 swap, but then I heard about the de-stroked 4g64, which gives 2.1l displacement and around an 11000 rpm redline. Would either of these motors be worth the trouble or should I stick with a g54b starion? The other option would be dohc g54b. Also if anyone is selling a starion, let me know please. Thanks.
  4. i am looking for a 4G64 6 blot wideblock to start my new engine build for my starquest i really dont care what condition the block is in as long as it turns over and dosent have a hole in it. Im looking for a complete block but will take a bare block to i live in oregon so the closer the better but if i have to pay shipping no big deal so let me know what you guys have thanks
  5. I am kinda at a fork in the road right now, I am to the point where if I keep progressing any farther with drifting im gonna need a serious motor...like 400 plus horsepower to compete with the big boys around a 5/8ths bank. I love v8's but thats what everyone is doing. The 4g family looks good cause i have seen some built dsm's with tons of horsepower. Are the g54's even capable of 400 plus hp? I think an Ls v8 would be the most bang for the buck at this point, but would like to stay mitsu under the hood. Opinions? Knowledge? Thanks
  6. Okay the question is i have an 87 quest roller and want to build a budget so to speak race car. I'm wanting to do it all myself. i would like to be the closest to 50/50 front to rear weight (cutting the firewall is a consideration). with a 5 or 6 speed. i don't want to worry about heat. i was strongly considering a 5.3l iron block (lm7) for the cheapness and available and was thinking about matching it to a t56 (6speed). but i recently got a deal i couldn't pass up on a build 350 .060 over with hypereutectic pistons and 11:1 comp. and i think that wouldn't make a good road race/drift for the heat reasons and for the difficulty of getting a 350 to fit.. but I've already got it so it's a consideration. I also was reading around about a 2.1l destroked evo engine and don't have much info on them besides it's gotta be easier to get a 4cyl in place of a 4cyl and they can rev like CRAZY and i would like to have a good track car. What are my options with a destroked 4g6(4?) transmission wise? is this a cost effective swap? what's the weight compared to iron or even alum. block V8's? Is a 350 .060 over going to have uncontrollable heat issues? is it not a cost effective swap? would the weight be an issue (even with setting it back and even moving it down) Or is a lm7 the best bet for affordable, reliable and trackable horsepower? Any input is WELCOME Thanks guys, Jabu P.S. I will get some pics up of the quest later, if anyone is interested.
