  1. Hi, everyone. I am prepping my car for a 2jz/1jz engine swap. I have read from a couple of threads that for a manual transmission, you would just need to use a bottle jack and the transmission will fit. Currently, because of where I live and pricing, I am leaning towards the automatic 2jz gte (non vvti) engine. I have a few questions regarding this swap: Does anyone know if the 2jz auto transmission will fit as nicely as the manual transmission on this car? (I will go with a manual 1jz instead if it doesn't) Is anyone on this website selling pre-made engine and transmission mounts for the 1jz or 2jz to our car? (i thought i saw it once but i cant find it now) Since I will be paying for a "friend of a friend" to do the swap for me, he said I could prep the engine bay myself and it will be cheaper for me. I want to take this opportunity to do work on the car's body and respray the engine bay. I am not planning on keeping the old engine or transmission and would like to remove as much things as possible. So my concern is that what would I have to keep for the engine swap to work? Essentially what can I remove and throw out of the engine bay, and what I should keep for the swap. My car is a 1986 flat-body black starion technica, it is an automatic trans. I know this is a lot of questions but you don't have to answer all of it, I'd be really grateful if anyone could just answer one or two of them. Any other suggestions and input is also welcome! I follow many swap post on here and the community is very helpful and supportive. Thank you!
  2. found. please close thread
  3. Not really a newbie to the starion just new to the forums looking for help with what to save up and what components will be needed obviously 2jz r154 trans fuel pump motor mounts but what else would be needed my goal and plan is to get everything needed so this could be maybe done in a week keep in mind I just want a stock 2jz running in my car and will do upgrades later
  4. Hello all. Its been a while since I've started working on my car, been at it for two years now, bringing it to bare metal, rust treatment, epoxy primer, patching a LOT of rust, fixing a lot of things. It may take a while for me to upload pics since I have two years worth of em lol. Anyways they are pretty big, should I make them smaller or post them as they are? Thanks. Ok so this is what i started with. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/054201011_zpsd708a496.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/05420104_zps7a1cb1cd.jpg I loved my car, It was my DD for some time, didn't really ran it hard even tho it was a multiport. Had some electrical issues but overall it was fine. Then one day, just idling at a red light, it started working on three cylinders, meh nothing major, just buy new sparkplugs and good as new(or so I tought). Removed it and found this. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20140105_221804_zpse4dd5b92.jpg Put in a new one, did exactly the same thing, At this point, the car was really acting up, I was fixing something only to find some other things and so on. I really got frustated. Being a SQC lurker and sawing all those 2jz swaps I went ahead and bought one. Might as well remove the head and see whats up at this point. Found this on cylinder #4. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20140105_221945_zpsc43c8916.jpg And so began my project (That ended up being a restoration lol)
  5. One is $250 the other $330. The $250 one has some damage to a cam. Theses prices are the 50% off sale prices that end soon. Odds are you could offer this same amount if they are off sale when you click on them. This is a popular engine for the SQ swap. I saw there was another one there for $420 from a manual trans Lexus. They all look to be 50% off right now.
