  2. A couple pics here.... the VIN character for the year model is a J.... Im not sure if that helps anyone no rust on the frame, there is a bit of nasty bodywork..... the tires are brand new, but the brake rotors look like they've been sitting for a Loong time...

  3. Anyone got one? I've got my 87 mpi conversion running good enough to make the clutch slip when boosting in 5th gear...I'm not ready to get a fidanza yet, but If Im getting a new clutch...some sort of upgrade is called for...
  4. probably wind up using either DSM coils or a Ford 4 tower coil... not going C.O.P. anytime soon.... originally I set it up like dieselgeek's 4g63 on the diy autotune site, because I planned on running a 4g63... since then I changed the inputs to run the 4-1 wheel instead of the DSM cas...so I could put it on my Quest..... outputs are still the same....dwell control, inverted spark, on led 17 and 19.... etc....
  5. Im using a MS 1, V3 board, with MSnS extra, crank trigger, 4-1 wheel/wheel decoder, and a pair of VB921's to directly drive the coils in wasted spark mode... Im building my own MPI manifold from scratch. I also have a MS relay board that I was planning on using

     

    when I first got this car, I knew the first thing that had to go, was that TBI setup...so Im doing that first, to learn how to tune, before I go hog wild with a huge turbo and lots of fuel... stock turbo, stock fuel pump, stock engine... my first goal is a smooth running 2.6 that gets better than 14mpg.....and is dependable...I hated not knowing if my car was going to start when I got in....

  6. Hey guys...Im getting pretty close to actually setting up my MS on my 87 TSI and I have a quick question..... Did any of you need to leave in the stock ECU for any reason... If you took it out, what things quit working....ie guages, cruise control, climate control,seat belts,etc... I know lots of things are interlocked with the ETACS unit, but Im not really clear on what interlocks with the ECU... Any input would be greatly appriciated...
