  1. those inconel valves might push it up to around 750. extreamly lite, stronger than stainless but cost over 250 per valve
  2. well, to use the rear camber bolts on the front control arms. here are some numbers and the way i would do this. the camber bolt kit for the rear is still avilable through the dealer. rear bolt diameter is 35/64" or .547" and about 1/4" longer than the front. front bolt diameter is 15/32" or .468" diffrence of .079" 1 the steel pipe in the front bushing can be drilled out that .079" of an inch. 2 the front frame would need to be drilled out the same diameter as the rear camber bolt hole. 3 an ecnetric type washers similar to the 1 on the rear needs to be welded to the front K frame. to simulate the same adjustment as the rear. asemble adjust to your liking and head to the alighnment shop, if needed. i'm in the process of doing this myself.
  3. if they do break, i would mod the shafts to use corvette type shafts
  4. my head doesnt look like that on the mating surface. in other words that gully on the lower part of the head isnt on mine. mine looks like the factory 2.6 head like this. valves are a lil bit smaller, but can go bigger. lot of meat in the port walls. no step like the quest head has in the exhaust port. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/tsi87supr60/...jpg&.src=ph i plan on milling out the trashed surface on this head & replace it with a good solid peice of aluminum. and machining out chambers & welding up the ports. maybe this weekend.[/img]
  5. when i venture to salvage yards i walk through the whole yard and look at everything. its possible with a few mods these would work. if anyone intended to use something other than????
  6. 240's stocker are alot shorter than starquest. 5 or 6" in the front, 6-7" in the rear the 240 measurements i have are for the teins. in which should be no more than 1.5" -2" shorter then stock 240's. sorry if i didnt make it clear enough. the struts in the pic you posted wont fit without radicaly modifing them. the front struts on 93 & up ford taurus, conture and similar cars might work on ours. though it only has 1 bolt to fasten it with. take a look http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lonestarion/ph...8804255184079/0 http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lonestarion/ph...8804255160833/1 it looks very close in length. not sure on the diameter though. didnt have anything to measure it with.
  7. 240's stocker are alot shorter than starquest. 5 or 6" in the front, 6-7" in the rear the 240 measurements i have are for the teins. in which should be no more than 1.5" -2" shorter then stock 240's. sorry if i didnt make it clear enough
  8. strut isolators? dealer quality is good if you can afford the price 1 side front is $8x.xx the other is $6x.xx a few off brand are softer than factory so keep away from them. used ones wont last much longer so your best bet is go new or after market
  9. stock quest front & rear are front: 24.375" +/-.050" rear: 24.687" +/- .050" 240 measurements using teins 18.5" front 17.0" rear i dont imagine stock 240's being much longer 1.5"-2" longer at most the diameter info i dont have.
  10. magna/galants are rear steer rack & pinion cars. can this be adapted to work on the starquest or no?
  11. diesel pistons will definatly not work a few companies make the other items. but i guess more competition wont hurt..
  12. its possible. i dont have 240 strut o.d. measurements but heres the measurement on starquest 2.071" +/- .002" i.d. of the opening on the rear hub. only problem you might incounter is the 240's are much shorter.
  13. what R&D procedures have you put these through? how long have you tested these? how long will you test these to find possible failures if any occur? was the short peice of dom beveled for better weld pen? 1 thing i noticed on the strut that you used. the suspension has to be taken loose to make an adjustment. any plans to fix that or no? i have noticed the pics are relativly new. i have no doubt the fit up will work. looks to be pretty dam good.
  14. i have more than just 1 project. in other words sevral avenues to end up with a few products. just incase a few end up being to costly i still have other options open. just found out estimate on the private label i was working on that involved tein & a distributor. $1500-2300 for the ss type $2200 2500 for the flex is this in your price range for a complete suspension kit ready to bolt in? is this price range in most or even 1/2 of starquest owners price range? i think not. this is why i have multiple ideas on a specific project (ie. struts)
  15. i have a shop working on the prototypes this week in aluminum only for fit up & and cleance. production will be in chrom-moly or similar grade steel. working on using s13 struts on all 4 corners. used teins can be rebuilt so mainly to keep cost down i would inport used sets from japan off this site www.rinkya.com sets range from $300-1000 usd but roughly the lowest i have figured on a complete set minus camber plates is $800. the parts will be availible thru me. as for the mookee part i have never seen those pics till just now but for the front my idea is very similar. only bad drawback on his design. you have to detatch the control arm for an adjustment. tein's are on top of strut. which would you rather have break your suspension loose for an incremental adjustment or adjust without breaking loose the suspension???? i think i know which DJ would prefer.... http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lonestarion/ph...8804255021230/0
  16. to mount a shock/strut in that location and have a pivot point on the hub. "you would still have to make an adaptor of somesort." http://new.photos.yahoo.com/lonestarion/ph...8804255001866/0 being a pivot cant be located on the hub heres my alternative which will work.
  17. coilover..... how much adjustablity can you get out of that again? it seems like my idea to use s13's has made that tiny little gear in your mind to start turning. if you actualy knew how i'm thinking. you night would understand how a fabricator/machinist/welder thinks. hell i think even ford taurus front strut will work on our rears. if anyone has seen these they look similar to sq's but they dont have the flange to bolt it to the rear hub. 1 bolt holds it in a clamp type similar to our cross bolt on the hub. i have only showed 2 people my adaptor design. if your interrested in seeing my design i will be more than happy to email you a copy, as i have yet to figure out how to post pics here. being you dont seem to have none or little fabrication experience you might not know what you are even looking at. I have no hard feelings, as i dont just have something made & throw it out on the market without any testing whatso ever. what if a part fails,if it does i want it to fail while I'm tesing it. not on someone elses car with no testing done. as for the custom teins. it will take them 4-6 months to make them then ship them to the usa office. 4-6 weeks i'll have adaptors ready for testing with s13 fully adjustables. as for a price, it will vary as the struts will be from japan & used but the lowset i have figured was 800 +/- 200 without front& rear camber plates for the sq's. i am working on a group purchase through a tein distributor. this is something i just started as tein wont do a group buy, this is the only reason it has taken so long to get this started. soon as i find out the distributor i will be working through on a "private label group buy." "i will let everyone know", that way those interrested can contact the distributor for more info.
  18. ha,ha obviously you have not talked to anyone @ tein nor have you been to their site in that last few months. I know more of the specifics of this programs because i talk to my contact MARK MASUDA 3-4 times a month. & YES the custom strut program is not set up for "group purchases" only a "distributor" or someone starting a "private label" can get the group purchase discounts. and as for posting a reply a month or so after yours. I work for a living, this means i travel to work so I'm not just stuck here in LA. I may work in san diego,ca. perris,ca. sacramento,ca. martinez,ca. or anywhere i am called to go to work. this is why there is a period of time between my post. so if things arent happening as fast as you want them to happen, get off your bunghole and do something........... :| instead of stirring $h!T
  19. heres what I am digging into with tein. NO, its not an overnight venture thats going to be completed tommorrow, but im working on it in my off time from working in sacramento & driving back here(LA) everyother weekend. so give a little time. the prices i was told would be around 1000 +/- 100 or so...depending on how many buyers take up on this. heres a cut & paste of the conversations with tein. sounds great. lets say i have 20-25 people interrested. they all fronted the 50% as a deposit. How much would the price be for this batch or each set be? Also what percentage would the tein distributor request (roughly)? you did mention that you have a few distributors that we could work through; could we set up a breif introductory meeting this week possibly at tein? I will be in LA all week so any part of the week will be ok.contact me by phone if this can/can't be arranged... thanks charles Marc Masuda <marc@tein.com> wrote: Charles, Sounds good! ETA on the entire process may take up to 4-6 months. As for the private label part of things, you will need to consult a TEIN Authorized Dealer. Generally speaking, 50% down is required and the minimum lot is 20 units, of course the more purchased, the lower the cost. Since this is a private label topic, pricing is custom and will vary. Please let me know when you are ready to proceed. Thank you. Best Regards Marc Masuda Staff@TEIN USA 9798 Firestone Blvd Downey, Ca 90241 PH: (562)861-9161 Fax: (562)861-9171 had a link but it wouldnt work as it is in email
  20. GREAT YOU GO THAT ROUTE....... I'm bringing a spare set of struts to tein tomorrow so we(tein & I) can get started on the set. if anyone is interrested in a group buy "THEY" will have to go through an authorized distributor, as you can't and tein wont allow group buys through their US office. the custom strut program is a 1 off program, which means they will make 1, 2 at the most kits for any make model car/truck on the road today. NOW, I HOPE THIS CLEARED UP ANY CONFUSION ANYONE HAS ABOUT THIS. IF NOT CONTACT TEIN YOURSELF AND FIND OUT THE PROGRAM SPECIFICS.
