  1. Wouldn't it be easy for a machine shop to cut the gaskets to the right bore size?
  2. Glad you like your pistons, Oscar. I told you they would be worth the wait. As for the bore size, I am not exactly sure why JE has no trouble finding rings for .040 over, but it may be that they have incorrect specs for the pistons just like Wiseco did before I gave them the right ones.
  3. eeaston -- OK. I can get you the Wiseco forged pistons in only 8:1 since it is not in a group and it will be $435 shipped. Lert me know what you think. Thanks Jim
  4. Oh. Sorry. Hope it works out for you with the mls headgasket.
  5. lol, no problem. I don't know about the mls headgasket deal, though.
  6. eeaston -- 3.622 AND 3.642 respectively. The clearance of .003 is built into the piston. Oscar and Tad -- Yours were sent out on the 29th of September. Rob and Abbas -- Yours weren't drop-shipped straight from Wiseco and went to supplier first. They will be shipped to you as soon as they reach supplier. Any day now.
  7. Sorry this is taking so long. It took a while for Wiseco to get teh right specs on paper for TRUE compression ratios. Wiseco said they should be done by today and yuo guys should start receiving them soon. Again, sorry for teh delay, but its worth the wait.
  8. Sorry, I don't what I was trying to say there, but I edited it. ;D
  9. eeaston -- They should all be done around October 6th, so they will be received by everyone sonn, but I can probablt work a deal out for you.
  10. Yes, that is a concern. Anytime you are physically moving a piston closer to a cylinder head, piston to valve clearance should be checked. The problem being with these engines is they don't have valve pockets to begin with and we've never had anyone give us location or even state that it was a concern. I did look and we've done one set of absolute flat pistons for a customer-we never heard anything back from him in terms of clearance issues. The clay method is about the easiest way to check, and I'd consider doing that before someone decks their block. These pistons are thick enough that a customer could fly cut if necessary, but there's an easier way to check: Pistons are closest to the valves at up to 11 btdc on the exh. and 11atdc on the int. If one figures out where the cams are when the piston is at that point, you can degree the cams to that point and measure where the closest part of the valve is to the deck of the cylinder head. I would expect with this cylinder head that the valves still don't open below that deck surface. It will give you a very close idea of what the clay check would tell you. As for compression, I'd agree that 9:1 is a possibility with a lot of turbo engines. Most hondas are that way now and about 1/2 the Mitsubishi 4g63 owners choose our 9:1 piston over our 8.3:1 version. Many new factory engines are starting at 9:1 and in our serious race pistons people are going much higher than that w/ race gas or methanol. I understand your arguments exactly, but I am going by the Wiseco contact using our factory measurments and what some of the pros here have stated. Thanks Jim
  11. OK. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am sorry for this taking longer than expected, but that I was given a completion date of approx. October 6th Just remember that it took longer because these pistons are being custom made by Wiseco and are an ACTUAL 8:1 and 8.35:1(the closest to 8.5:1 without valve reliefs). Â The full 8.5:1 can be attained by soem simple block decking, which should be planned anyway. Please let me know if you guys need anything else or have any questions. I appreciate your patience for allowing these pistons to be done the right way. ;D
  12. tad -- Don't worry. You're alright. ;D Rob -- I am working with them on this and your blok may only need to be decked a little if we can't avoid that at all, but I believe that JE was not a TRUE 8.5:1 also. Thanks Jim
  13. I am working with some gurus on this board and Wiseco to get a TRUE 8:1 and 8.5:1 since Wiseco seems to have had some incorrect specs from our cars, which I let them know and they will be changing. Right now, Wiseco said that the 8:1 will be easy, but that 8.5:1 may require the block to be decked some because he thinks the most CR he can attain without valve crashing, is 8.35:1 We are still working a way around this. ;D Does anyone plan on decking their block or has their block been decked? Does anyone have any aftermarket cams and, if so, what is the lift? It is coming along, though! Thanks Jim
