  1. Why not just purchase a flare tool set from Harbor Freight and flare the OEM line for $7.99 instead of wasting $45-$65.

I will never waste any $$$ on a ABS deletion line

well that piece at NAPA is just $2. how many times am i gonna do this ABS elimination mad. once, twice, three times?? its still cheaper to just buy this part from NAPA.

  2. just go to the local auto parts store and get a 30" metric line for an eclipse. works just as well, and is under $5, plus you'll have it in hand. Oscar has great stuff but isnt always spot on on delivery, and communication. especially lately it seems.

ok, maybe i missed something. what is a 30" metric line for an eclipse. i bet if i went into my local advanced auto parts and blurted this out, they wouldn't have a freaking clue what im talking about. is it common part on an eclipse? what part? part number? what year eclipse is in on? or are you just talking about a basic brake line rod that they sell in cyclinders. the do it yourself brake lines that you bend yourself?

  3. the tranny tunnels on the autos are alot bigger than the manual tunnels

Are you sure about that? I haven't ever heard that before, and you would think it wouldn't really be cost efficient to have two different shell designs.

Not to call you out on it, it's just news to me, and I thought I new these cars in and out.

    -GCN.

i have two parts cars. one is a 5 speed car, and the other an auto. the auto is way wider.

i found some pics i took a couple weeks ago. if you look at the yellow car, right below the brake booster to the left, there is a part of the tunnel that got oil all over it stickin out. on the red auto cars pics that isnt there. i'll take some more centered pics 2mrw so you can see the diffrence better.

  4. i got your pm about someone possibly wanting to trade you for 1st gen TT supra?? jump on that man!! trust me, its a way more dependable car than these starquest. after discussing our trade with a couple of my buddies, we came to the conclusion that it would be more cost effective for me to just to do a 5 speed swap in my auto starquest. the tranny tunnels on the autos are alot bigger than the manual tunnels and i have a SBF with a tremec 5 speed that i was goin to put in my 5 speed 86 roller, but it might be a tight fit. if it is then this auto starquest would be my next option. the amount of money im going to spend just on the trip to make the trade, i can spend less and do a 5 speed swap. i say jump on the supra trade. you cant go wrong with a toyota.
  5. I'm sorry your trading that beautiful 5 speed SHP quest thats is great shape for this?

    http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i190/drewhendricks/88%20black%20starquest%20auto/e840.jpg

sit back and thkn about what your about to do.

beautiful 5 speed?? you must be one of those guys who dates girl based on what they look like on the outside. yeah he has a clean exterior, but almost every pic of his undercarriage had rust in it. not to mention the fender bender it was in. obviously it was bad enough to knock the alignment out. i offered to replace both rusted fenders with clean ones. the rest of the rust is minimal and easily fixed on my car. my undercarriage doesnt have a ounce of rust on it. i guessed you must have missed that part of our conversation.

mine is a non SHP, but i can get some SHP struts and wheels if you want. i have tons of extra parts if you want anything. i will throw in a good set of front fenders since these are rusted. it has a GM 3" MAS with MAF-T. valve body mod for stronger shifts between gears, manual boost controller set for 18-22psi. a/c is ice cold, 2.5 DP no cats, sunroof, timing chains replaced 5000 miles ago, just turned 100,000 miles. would make the trip to ohio no problem..

plus i offered to make the trip both ways. thats at least $400 bucks in gas if not more. why are there some many freaking haters on this damn forum.???!!! its like everytime i turn around someone is sayin something about someone else. do you have a car to trade with him??? i'll step aside and let you have at it. if i part them out, im wrong. if i try to sell it, im asking too much, if i try to trade it, they come on here and try to fudge poop up. some of these guyz on here are really annoying. if he was that concerned about you getting a bad deal... 1. he would have PM'd instead of making a big stink of it on the thread....2. he should have came at you with a better deal than mine to help make his point... 3. he should have read the whole thread before coming on here and spouting off at the mouth without knowing all the facts of the trade.. he's showing you pics of the fender i told you i would replace??!!! what i should have done is sugar coat the car, dont tell you nothing about it, tell you its the best thing since slice bread, just to have you not be happy with the car when you got it. i mean come on, im the one make this trip, why would not tell you about the cons with the car just to drive up there and have you say "hell no, you didnt tell me about that" and have to drive all the way back home having wated gas, time, and not to mention put more wear and tear on my car. what i'll do is give you another week or so to find a better deal than mine and if you cant we will go from there. in the mean time i'll get all the maintenance you require for this deal and i'll document it all with receipts and pics, incase any more people come on here and add their 2 cents.. maybe AndyW will help you find a better deal. if he does, which i doubt, then you'll come out on top either way. good luck, i'll get back to you in a couple weeks. just for the record, im not pissed at you bbuilderedgedQuest, i just hate the way some people are on this forum. he obviously is either jealous of the trade in progress or has nothing better to do with his time. who knows. its getting pathetic already.

on another note, seeing that you've already stated that you're not that mechanically inclined, take if from someone who has owned these cars since they were brand new on the show room floors,,, unless you know a good cheap mechanic or have a abundant amount of moneys to set on fire, i would recommend you steer away from these cars. they are more trouble than there are worth to someone who cant maintane them themselves. these cars are rolling money pits and anyone who tells you otherwise is straight up lying to you. point blank. even if you never mod a damn thing on these cars, if you drive it everyday like a typical 18 year old dude does, something will break that you either cant find parts for, or have 6 diffrent mechanics tell you 6 diffrent things that are wrong with the car, none of which will be right or even close and your experience with these cars will end up with you broke, pissed, and walking. you're a young dude, there are plenty other cars out there that will better suit your situation from what i can tell. wait til you're a little older and have less poop on your plate and more money in the bank and make it hobby car or something. my advise, sell the car and buy something you'll be able to rely on, cause this aint one of them cars.. everyone i have known who wasnt a mechanic or didnt have a great deal of income ended up getting rid of the car and having nothing nice to say about them except "at one point it was fast". i love my starquest's and probably will always own one, but they are not for everybody. i'll keep in touch.

  6. i didn't mean "eager to trade" in a smart a** kind of way sorry...

just had to ask and see, i guess what i meant was why you wanted to get rid of it..

now everyone who thinks i am a complet POS for trading here's my reasoning and i don't want to hear it's pathetic.

i am 18 and i am starting my senior year in three weeks. where i moved to is where i need to depend on taking my self to school. i have started to get the 5 speed down, but i am definately not up to par on my manouverablity skills and i can't put it into gear quickly when say i have to immediately down shift and such. a few of my friends are willing to take me out and keep practicing with me, but they want to take my car out for a spin, not all of them i can trust not to rip the poop out of it, and if they break something i am going to be loosing a friend after i get pissed haha. the one friend i could trust not to rag on it and can drive stick good has gone to the marines and won't be back for a while. my mom is the one that initially took me out started teaching me, but she get to nerve racking so she wants my grandpa to teach me, and with him i doubt i will be getting time in before school starts...i start leaning toward an automatic.

now the only other thing (trying to be honest) that is wrong with the car is that the wheel is out of alignment, you'll have to take it of and put it on streight it's not horrible at all but it's a little noticable.

i just have some more question i'd like to be answered before we go with this.

has the car been tuned up recently via new plugs wire injector clean?

do the power windows and door locks work?

    does the sunroof leak?

    do the hatch struts work?

is the original suspension good or at least decent?

is the transmission shifting good how is the transmission in general (big concern) ??

what are the fuel injectors like, do they leak?

    how are the brakes??

    tire condition??

    hows the gas milage?

what the carpeting look like inside?

(this is going to be a show car) i won cruisefest nationals with my quest.

does the OD work GOOD on it?

if you have pics of the fenders that would be great.

so, you said that you will give me the SHP rims as well as suspension

    and both fenders you have?

i will trade under these conditions

it gets or you have proof of a recent radiator flush

it has or you have proof of a recent transmission flush

and an oil change would be great, so that i've got 3000 miles to drive until i have to change it.

    thanks

i've been answering, i just think you are askin a little much for an even swap, unless your cars is in as good a condition as you want mine to be, its not worth it to me.

  7. i have at least 5 sets of wheels layin around. i didn't think the polishing process was that simply really. well, its not that simple, but i've never actually had anyone explain it to me before. this is great info. should be a sticky.. (hint to moderators) im going to test this out on one of worst condition wheels i have layin around. if i can make that one look good, then all hell is gonna break loose on the others.
