  2. the motor in my quest went goodbye so now im looking for a good running motor witl 5spd. it was an auto so i need all the parts for the 5spd swap.

  4. this is my first dsm so im not realy knowledgeable of the terms. what does those trannys come in? is there anyway to use the quest tranny?
  5. well ive been tryin to sell my quest for a while cuz i never could decide what to do, but ive been researching and i think im gonna go with the 4g63 since its already super strong without having to do bottom end work. getting the motor is easy, we have alot of junk 1g eclipses around, but i read the stuff on other site about how to do the swap, is there any easier way, i dont have access to a big machine shop, this is a backyard garage swap. can anyone give me some advice on how to start? thanks
  6. ok i bought a full 240 with an sr20det so im htinkin about just takin most of the stuff and transfering it. wouldnt the stock rack n pinion work since the 240 is left hand drive just like the quest? and since the sr is about the same size as a 4g wouldnt it slide in without messing with the firewall? i know ill probly need to cut the motor mounts from the 240 and weld them on the quest but has anyone done an SR before so i might have a game plan?
  7. hey guys, ive got an 87 quest with the 4 speed auto tranny. im lookin to convert to the 5 speed. does anyone have the complete set of everything i need to make it a 5 speed?
  8. ive finally made the decision to go with an sr20det. ive got a place that has everything i need, the specialize in 240s. i was thinking that if i use the jdm sr20, jdm tranny and the right hand drive rack and pin. to try and get the weight down im going to gut everything from the seats back. does anyone know if i will need to get new suspension components or what else do i need? thanks Robert
  9. thanks man. the 4cyl idea isnt to bad. instead of the typical 4g63 swap maybe i could switch it up a little. is it possible to swap the 2.0 from the srt4 into a quest???
  10. thanks, i guess i need the mounts due to the power increase and weight. im trying to decide which v8 would fit. i know clearance is an issue. whats the best bang for the buck. i was thinking maybe the ls1 would fit??? maybe, i hope. thanks for all the help.
  11. i would prefer a fuel inj. motor. if this works it will be used as a daily driver.
  12. yeah i read up on his swap. he had to custom make his mounts. im wondering if theres any v8 that will fit on the stock mounts? i dont have much access to tools that can make custom mounts. i was hoping it would be easier than i thought.
  13. ive heard of a chrylser v8 swaping into the quest mounts but i havent heard of anyone actually doing it. i dont know much info about thr swap so if any of you guys know anything please let me know. my g54b just locked up on me so im lookin for a good cheap power plant. thanks
