I have been reading your forums for a while and just got logged on. I have a custom fabrication shop in Kalispell,Mt. I am also a true mopar man at heart. Along with my cuda and charger r/t, I've started collecting conquests. For the last 3 years I have been building custom bolt on virtical door kits for people who have less popular cars.(porsche, older cars and trucks, buick etc. My kits are very high quality and I have never overcharged someone becouse it was a fad. Anyway, I have a very functional virtical door kit sitting on my shelf that I built last year for a 88 conquest i aquired. I have been through all of the testing and trials on my design and it works perfect. There is a great fit and no wind noise. I even tested my design on a car(not a quest) that we rolled 20 times with a backhoe to make sure the hing didn't fail. some common mistakes people are making on these kits are miterial and the struts to lift them. I use 1/4" cold rolled plate for the frame. the hing assem. is stainless steel, and the arm is 3/8 cold rolled. the only movement in the door when it is up is in the door it's self and I found a way to cure most of that. the struts are custom made for my application. they are a forged steel and have a 1700 pound capacity. I need that big of a strut becouse when the door is in the up position, I wanted the strut to be hidden. So my next thought is how much should I sell them for. The struts are 140.00 each and I have a company in town cnc the hinges for me. It takes me about 22 hours to build a set. If I jig it up and build alot at one time i can cut the costs down. I think I can get the kit down to around $900.00. keep in mind this kit is built for conquests only. A comparible honda kit is 1500.00. I am just sick of seeing honda's with all the goodies. I have 5 conquest projects in my shop right now, A soon to be 380horse magnum crate motor 89 quest. A 88 quest being fitted with a 2.4l-2.0dohc combo, a 86 quest with 89 upgrade, and I just found a 1996 VR_4 twin 3000gt donor for a custumers car. I've also got my body guys working on exterior mods like projector headlights, an afordable fiberglass airdam, about $150.00. Skyline taillight conversion. 3 differant hood styles. So guys it's up to you. let me know what you think. I can have kits ready to ship by next week. and I will have pics of everything real soon. you can call me direct with any conserns.. thanks jason perry metalcrafters 406-257-8923
