  1. Lexus AFM = $75 (junkyard) 550cc inj = $350 (Ebay) ADJ fuel press reg = $175 w/hoses (summit racing) Apexi SAFC2 = $$270 (ebay) Turbonetics 62-1 .69 A/R turbo = $864 (shipped from horsepower freaks) Custom 3" exhaust turbo to muffler tip < $250 K/N filter $85 walboro 255 litre pump = $89 (ebay) 24x12x3 intercooler $309 shipped (ebay) Custom intake pipes/ silicone connectors/ clamps  <$200 This is the basic stuff I've done to my sup Not including JE pistons and ARP hardware. Most of it is universal and not overly expensive for car mods. I haven't dynoed my car yet but there are people I've seen making 500+hp with less mods than me
  2. Aren't the 2.6's 2 valves per cylinder????? 7M's are 4 thats Another reason I'd go with the swap. Forgot to mention that in the list. I tend to agree with you for the most part with age being a big issue with the SQ causing reliability problems. Same thing with the head gasket issue on the 7m. Do the SQ have Iron heads or aluminum???? If they're iron I guarentee it weighs a bit more than our aluminum heads. The 7M aluminum head Is just slightly heavier than the Turbocharger. The block isn't to bad either....heavy but one able person can lift without to much trouble. The steel Crank on the other hand will give you a damn hernia trying to lift it
  3. 1JZ's are quite a Bit less expensive than the 2JZ........Only problem is JAP only motor......So running to Autozone or advance autoparts when you need even little things is out. But for the money its got nearly the the same potential of the 2 JZ What I'm after is the ultimate all around car. No so much the absolute fastest, or the Best looking (You'll go broke trying to do that) but the best balance. My first choice would be a MK4 Sup but there just to ridiculously overpriced. I've had a few chances to pick up a twin turbo for like 15,000 but I'm not into car payments. I own 4 vehicles 97 Expedition, 97 saturn (wife's car), 90s supra, 89 S10 Blazer (which is for sale) ALL PAID FOR. I found a 3000gt VR-4 the other day for $6500.....nice condition....But there Heavy as hell to.
  4. Things I've "heard" 1. The heads crack easy 2. the fuel injection system is horrendous 3. The manual trans isn't to bad but it won't handle 400hp+ for very long 4. Same with the rear 5. The cooling system sucks 6. 3.55 rear gear (should be 3.73 or 4.11 in my Opinion) (turbo MK3's where 3.90 for 87-88, 3.73 89-92 , 4.11 for NA all years) 7. 7-1 compression (the low end torque must be horrible  with that low gear) That is a 2 or 1 JZ engine in that pic........I can tell by the valve covers....7M valve covers are alot mor square than that.  If its hard fitting a JZ motor in there then its harder to do a 7M because of the accessory belt setup. JZ's use a single serpentine setup that doesn't add as much length to the whole motor. 7M's have 3 serperate belts with offset accessories like the SQ (they do have sep belts right???) The R154 manual 5spd (only came in turbo 7M's) Is quite a bit smaller than the JZ Turbo 6 speed. We 7M supras would have to cut our tunnels to fit it in our cars to. Its a gerthin a** TRANS. The R154 has been proven to handle 600HP+ (driving with respect though no woman of ill reputeing on it) 400HP isn't really asking to much out of it. They're pretty readily available in junk yards. If you want to adapt one to a starquest it would be a good choice. Remember my car weighs 500 + pounds more then yours so thats quite a bit more stress on the drive train of a supra than it would be in a starquest. I like my supra but its to damn heavy!!!! and there's no way to really get rid of more than 100-150 pounds with out really gutting the things that make it a mint condition car. 3 years ago I was literally 24 hours from buying an 89 ESI-R with 70,000 miles and mint for 3,000 dollars but I came across my sup locally the day before and wound up buying it. Oh well I guess the 7M swap is out. Maybe a twin turbo ford or chevy might be a little easier to get in there or maybe a 3SGTE from a MR2 (they're like a 4 cylinder equivelent to a JZ motor) . Hey what years were those wide body model SQ's available???? JZ engines are the SHHIT but they are also horrendously expensive to obtain......expensive to build.......expensive to swap. A good 7mGTE will run you less than a thousand dollars and can handle 450+ HP(at the wheels) with no internal modifications (except metal head gasket The stock one is prone to blowing on 7M's) (You still need a bigger turbo though stock CT26 will do maybe 340-350 pushing it hard)
  5. Thinking of selling my supra and getting a starquest. I've heard nothing but bad things about the SQ drive train so I was planning on sticking the Engine, Trans and rear from a 87-92 Supra in it. The only thing I don't know is ........is the SQ's engine bay long enough to accept an inline 6??
