  1. I have a 1988 Turbo charged Starion that I was restoring over the past several years that is up for sale now. I have all the documentation and receipts, which total over $6,000 invested so far into this car. I'm going to list all the things a Starion enthusiast would want to know so here it goes. It has a completely rebuild computer balanced engine block with hypereutectic pistons. All engine work was done professionally by a performace machine shop. Again all documentation available. The balance shafts have been removed for more performance, which is why the engine was rebalanced. New timing gear and chain set was installed along with a NEW oil pump. NEW Marnel non-jet valve cylinder head with Schneider cam, new stainless steal valves, HD valve springs and new hydraulic lifters. NEW ARP head studs fasten the head to the block. NEW 19C turbo charger. FULL *DM 3in exhaust with high performance CAT and Magnaflow muffler. HAL air fuel meter and boost meter. Turbo XS Boost controller is installed. I also have a complete *DM hard pipe kit with 1g MAS airflow, and blow off valve with modified intercooler not currently installed. I am willing to negotiate this into the deal, but the offer has to be reasonable. New factory water pump, new injectors, new High output fuel pump, new factory fuel regulator, new high output coil, new 8mm plug wires and rebuilt distributor. Alternator and starter where both rebuilt. The radiator was also cleaned and restored by professional radiator shop. Rebuilt AUTOMATIC transmission and new torque converter. I even installed all new bushing into the shift linkage to get the slope out of the shifter. I also have a complete spare automatic and some extra spare internal hard to find tans parts. ALSO I have the parts to convert this to manual except for the manual trans, I gave that to a starquest memeber (Jeff) a few years back. I installed two new factory front fenders because of some rusting on the old. The car does need to be painted. The front spoiler is cracked AGIAN but is there. Interior is in great shape no tears in seats. This car does not have a sunroof. New tires and breaks where also installed. There is a ton of other stuff that I did that I am forgetting… There is around 92K original miles on this car, I bought it when it had 83K. So there is approximately 10K miles on the work and parts above. I started a corvette project and just have no more time or money for this car. I just got a new battery and its ready to drive away… I would like to get at least $3500. frankmelfa@optonline.net http://img514.imageshack.us/my.php?image=starion3qh6.jpg http://img403.imageshack.us/my.php?image=starion4nb7.jpg
  2. For the most part I feel TEP's customer service is terrible. I have purchased from them and was satisfied with the products but when I called for some tech support I felt they where very arrogant and not very helpful. I found there prices to be a little on the high side but I would not mind paying a bit more if there was a reason, like some great tech support! Not sure why they continue to be in a customer service type business. They should just manufacture parts and sell them to retail shops that know how to treat a customer. Oh well!
  3. Hello eveyone. I purchased Kelly's exhuast system and it worked out great. Plus Kelly's service is excellent. He is really making a big difference and offering some great products for StarQuest! Kelly, Keep up the great work! I got a SS flex section, car-sound converter part #93509 and a SS Magnaflow muffler part #14219 shipped to my home for $180 from ebay user performance-curve. Their email address is performance-curve@cox.net. Scott and Reggie at performance-curve are great to deal with and have many products and great prices, give then a call to complete Kelly's exhaust! I picked the 93509 cat becuase it is a LEAGAL 2 for one replacement and will pass NJ inspection. 2 for one, meaning eliminate a precat and secondary and replace with one cat, it's important if you have tough laws in your state. Of course you could always reinstall you stock exhaust to go to inspection. It is the largest body cat car-sound has before going into the truck series which have the same width and height except they are longer. Also the 14219 magnaflow muffler is a center inlet and outlet, with Kelly's exhaust the 14229 which has a center outlet and offset inlet is going to line up perfectly. I first installed the exhuast system with no flex section and no cat, just the magnaflow muffler and it was WAY TOO LOUD for me. A flex section is ABSOLUTLY necessary for better fitment and mobility. It was very rigid with out it. Lastly, even with the cat installed, I feel it's too loud for me. I have tinnitus and other ear problems so I might be an exception. For those who do not know what tinnitus is, goto www.ata.org and educate yourself. Take it from me, don't expose yourself to excessive sound (db) levels. The 5 years of 120db sound system in my cars have permenatly damaged my hearing and it's just going to get worse. Here are some photos of my exhuast system. http://home.att.net/~fmelfa/starion/edownpipe.jpg http://home.att.net/~fmelfa/starion/edownpipe_cat.jpg http://home.att.net/~fmelfa/starion/ecat.jpg http://home.att.net/~fmelfa/starion/emuffler2.jpg
  4. cj Thats for the information and pictures. your one of the few who actually posted a response exactly like I was looking for.
  5. Kelly and everyone, I was dissapionted to read the pissing match between Chip and Kelly. I was hoping the discussions on the 3" exhaust system would evolve to include information on the best muffler/tip combination, best value etc. Information on what length and type of flex section, which cat to buy????? I made contact with a supplier in Queens NY who says he can get anything. He quoted a price on a aluminzed flex section for around $40. He mentioned that he can get 3 ply flex sections (which he claims are much better) where there is a braid on the inside and out. DO WE REALLY NEED Stainless for the Flex section??? I can see if your getting the stainless system but would not an aluminzed flex section make sense for the aluminized systems? The price difference makes sense! This supplier also memtioned that he can get mufflers, and CATs. I was going to buy a "high flow" car sound cat until Kelly advised against it as he compared it with another unknow and found it to be better that the CATCO someone posted information about. He mentiond that it was much larger and therefore would flow better, makes sense to me, larger area more volume! Kelly, did you get the specifics on that unidentified converter???? Mufflers? I have yet to install my system but by the looks of the photos it seems to me that the best type of muffler would be like the FLo Pro in the photos. It has and offset inlet and a center outlet. It would be nice to know the body dimenions and lenth etc. I would like to go with the magnaflow myself. So can we please evolve the dicussion in a direction to help me and others complete their systems. Thanks
