  1. Thanks Shelby, I did notice that the hose just above the coolant sensor had a small drip and was dripping on the sensor, maybe I need to look at that a little closer.
  2. Initially I had a 30 AMP fuse in line. I didn't realize as much as 60A flows through there. I replaced the fuse with fusible link wire. Hopefully that wll do the trick. As far as the sputter issue, I cleaned the disributor really good, put in some nice lite, waterproof grease, put it back together, and made sure the pulugs were gapped at .034......... it still does the same thing. One thing I dod notice was that when it is sputtering, there is grey/black smoke coming out of the back. When I put a boost guage on it, it boosts to 10 lbs and starts the sputtering. ARRRGGG!!!!!!!!
  3. No Problem Starwolf.....I lostthe bet too. I figured WTH, couldn't be a bad thing to make sure the injectors work like they should. I think I may be on to something. On a whim, I decided to change out the new fuel filter for another new fuel filter and now it will run but there is bad sputtering at around 4K rpm. But if you let it come up slowly, the sputtering doesn't happen. I am still going to rebuild the Distributor and see what happens. Also, on the test drive it died on me. I put a fuse in line where the wires comes off the battery down to the connection box. That fuse blew not allowing it to charge. I jumped it and put a bridge across the fuse since I was only 1/2 mile from the house. By the time I got home, the coatong on the wire had begun to melt. What makes this thing over charge or whatever it's doing. Never did that before.
  4. Getting ready to tear apart the Dist and clean it out really good. I am also gonig to replace the injector clips, just to eliminate that from a possibility. Thanks for the tips guys, if you think of something else, let me know. It feels like I am chasing a ghost.
  5. With the cap off, you can see the advanced but you really don't hear a "clang". Are you telling me it should snap back quick enough to make noise? I can take it apart and clean it up....at this point, Ill try anything. Thanks for the tip.
  6. OK....those betting on the injectors being bad.....we lost!! I sent the injectors off to WitchHunter and just got them back. I could hardly stand it while putting it together because I KNEW that was gonna be the problem. It wasn't Same exact symptoms as before. Now I am lost and have no idea. I don;t have the $$ just to parts swap. Repplaced or fixed parts are now: Fuel pump, Fuel Filter, Plugs, Wires, injectors serviced, distributor cap. I love the car and want to keep it but this is getting crazy. Can anyone help?
  7. Yes, it does pass the "suck test". There is motion with a vacuum is applied. I sent the injectors off for flow and test with WitchHunter but I am still not optimistic.
  8. OK, I am sending off the injectors today. I swapped out the ECU just in case it was sending a "cut fuel" signal but nothing changed. I am going to try to reset the tps before I disassemble the TB.
  9. I am so ignorant about this car, I did not realize I could pull codes. tell me how?
  10. I appreciate all the help guys. Im sure you guys understand the frustration. I am even willing to start replacing parts but where to start?
  11. I have pulled out both injectors and tested them with a 9-volt source. Both were "clicking" right along. A guys helping me, listened (putting a screwdriver on the injector) to them and said they were working. Does this tell me the ECU is sending the signal? Is a noid light a fancy name for a 12V test light? The car was working fine once upon a time then this problem just happened all of a sudden but for a while now the car would "buck" under very heavy acceleration in first and second.
  12. Coolant temp sensor? I never considered that one. I have fiddles with the times, made sure the Vac advanced is operating, and changed the plugs.......I was thinking the fuel regulator could be a culprit too. I am also thinking of swapping out the ECU in case there is something in there that could cause a fuel cutoff. Thoughts anyone?
  13. this is getting frustrating. I changed out the pump and fuel filter once again but no change. The car will start and run but if I give it gas quickly it stumbles to shutdown, or once it get to 3K. I can milk it to get more rpm but once boost happens, it shuts down. HELP!!!!!!! I did the timing bump both ways with no change too.
  14. It's an 88 ECS. Finally got the car to start and idle. That problem was a connector of the green injector, not sure if which one that is. The very end of the tab was broken off. Secured it better with safety wire and fired right up. Stll have the cut out at boost though.
  15. I'll switch harnesses to make sure I got them right but I did mark them before I took them off. I know it started before I pulled the injectors (but still had the problem I am chasing) and it will run again. that sputter problem is driving me crazy. It car just isn't fun to drive when it cuts out at boost.
