  1. Better to to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
  2. Thanks Dstar88 your friend is definetly talented. Thats the look i am going for. I am fully aware of cancellation and think the more subs might not mean louder but definetly more air pressure. Why so many sealed boxes in the quest? Not a bad idea to assume everyone is a little older and isn't into the booming sound and likes to listen to actual music, not rap like myself. I understand the affect a sealed box has at making the sub moe accurate but if i could get a custom box to fit for a decent price i would otherwise sealed oxes on the small end are for me.
  3. Let me refraze that for the smart tail, caught me misspeaking. I stripped my entire car to nothing but the dash, and sparco racing seats hoping to get a good amount of weight reduction. Then i seen Burtons pimped out ride (and a few others), had a flash back to my Cadi on 20" three blades, and desided to dynamat the car. Not very extensive but most problem areas. I am looking for a set-up that either has numerous small subs or one 2kw 18" sub and where to put them.
  4. Thanks took a while to get a response but that what i needed. ATM i just dont understand the advantage of each system
  5. i like to listen to song like Lost by Gorilla Zoe, Geeked up by Young Jeezy, and if im not listening to that im listening to reggae and ska. THought this might help with suggesting the proper box for me.
  6. well i have no back seats and no flap on the hatch. I took it all out for dynamat and was hoping to reduce some weight. I was trying to find out if three 12" Kicker CVR sub woofers in a sealed box would fit in the space provided between the wall at the back of the car were the back seats used to be pressed against and the front seat. Then i was wondering if it would be best for the subs to point upward. I hear that there is some sort of directional distortion that could be aim at your ear so you have to be careful. I have had many systems and i have installed them with my own hands i am good with wiring but i do not know how to build ported boxes. I listen to rap and like big subs that are powered correctly so that they are punchy like they are supposed to be. I find that i get the best SQ from sealed applications, even though i like the hard hit of ported boxes. Any opinions? Why dont i here about more people with ported boxes in the quest? I think the key to showing a subs true colors is with a great amp. I think a large sub can be as punchy as a small one you just need the correct power to do it. Larger subs make larger sound at less strain meaning less distortion.
  7. im not asking for electrical answers i am wondering if the prefab boxes with lets say 3 12" subs will fight nicely in the back seat. I have my car stripped down to nothign but the dash and i was thinking about making a box flush up to the trunk so it would appear as if the trunk was extended closer to the back of the seat. Wondering if anyone has tried that. Also wondering if there are any experienced box makers on this site too.
  8. Will a sub box for three tens or 2 twelves fit on the back seat? My car is in the shop atm and i dont have any back seats in it. I am just wondering because i seen a box that was angled and golds 3 tens. That would interest me a little more than 2 twelves because i havent seen anyone with 3 tens. Can i atleast get the width wall to wall of the back seat in inches?
  9. Why such a big alternator? i cant find any that big for a reasonable price. I never thought about how different alternators would be in the quest compared to my DTS. You would think that in such an old car that you wouldnt need such a big alt with a moderate sized system, but maybe i am underestimating your system. Its suchs to have planned everything about my car so well and over-look something like this... Give my your input im looking for about a 2k watt system max because this car is small.
  10. How does the injector set-up affect performance?
  11. is that not a bit unusual? My friend went to UTI in Chicago for automotive and peformance yada yada and he is like there are four injectors and im like nah i hear diferent from the Conquest finatics. How does this effect the cars performance? And i havent heard of this system prior to owning a Tsi what is the name of this fuel system called specifically?
  12. I have an '89 TSI and i was unsure if i have 2x primary injectors and 2x secondary injectors, or if i have 1x prinmary 1x seconday. Can someone specify? I would also like to know there size. Thank You
  13. i was thinking money wise would it be cheaper to improve on the 2.6 or drop a 350 in the car, and weld and fabricate. I am good with measurements and fabrication, but i am not a good welder, my buddy is. Last night i got to thinking about the gas mileage with a 350 in the quest and i was like geez i would be buying gas everyday. I live in michigan so i only plan on driving the car on the most perfect of days. So gas is less of an issue. The most important issue that i have is the initial cost of getting the 2.6 to the hp i want would be more expensive then swapping a 350 in. I will look into an LS1 i seen that build log and it was a pretty extensive build. I am a perfectionist as well so i dont think time is an issue. Does anyone had a list of mods they used to get to lets say 300hp in the quest and the total price. I need brands and all that cause i am pretty stupid when it somes to parts i havent heard of.
  14. My friend has a Pontiac 350 not sure on the year. I was wondering if swapping that into my 89 tsi be worth the work? I have tons of work to do on the stock conquest engine, and the same for the 350 so lets say its equal. The only thing is that neither of us have worked on a conquest engine and my friend is very experienced in 350's. He has a 350 in a Miata... What are were opinions on why i should use one engine or the other? Thanks in Advance
  15. i am in the army and i am far away from home. I would so appreciate if you saved one of these for me. I will not be back home for about 3 more months maybe a tad more. I been looking for an MPI manifold and didnt think to look here. I check this site no matter what, NO MATTER WHAT! You guys are awesome.
  16. So does DAD do work, or have all the answers? Or both?
  17. Anyone have any sites they suggest to get heads for my '89 Conquest? i have found a few sites that say they do work on these engines but i want to know about the site people here have been using. I want to run my conquest on pump gas, and no spray. I am looking to have 350-450 rwhp. I also would like to know what everyone in that power range is using in terms of mods and why. I'm new to this and im just trying to get a feel for mods that are best bang for the buck. I'm not trying to go to a race track any time soon, this car will just be a weekend or a summer car. My friend said to just get a new motor for the car but i dont think thats a good idea since i am not trying to dump money into the project all at once. I have a friend that owns a garage and his employees swear up and down they know everything about motors and this and that but i'm not the most trusting person when it comes to my baby. http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af314/randyshaw81/Car%20at%20stock/Newride.jpg?t=1271412507[/img]
