  1. jisleyjr So you know you can get chains and studded mountain bike tires for that thing right? Guys ride them down ski hills, I woudn't even think of sking or bording down and I will ride dimond hills.

and yes that is very true.... I don't want him to get discouraged with a too intence workout at first. I would call this more a point to work towards. Need to start off slow and steddy, then add intensity to get you over the next platoe

O and if you can stright up make it though an insanity workout taking only that like 20 second rest you get.... your a beast.

My buddy made me a copy of the P90X karate disc, and its a b!tch. He's a former Marine and he says the whole workout kicks his tail. Ill get there slowly, but the whole P90X or Insanity workouts intimidate the hell outta me

  2. lol, adding supplements. Some people are telling you to ADD something to your diet? Well, that's a mistake. So how was the first day of your diet? Did you eat more or less or the same?

    Answer please.

Wow, dude. I dont know whether youre being cynical to be mean or because you honestly want to help thru tough love. I know very well what to do to weigh less. I also said that my joints hurt and I wanted to try something to jump start my weight loss. My reasoning about asking a group of guys in a car forum is exactly that, to ask a group of guys what worked for them. Thats it.

You think I want to weigh this much? Do you think its a concious choice? I make no excuses about how I got so overweight. But calling me so lazy that I cant walk or that I dont know how I got so fat is making a huge assumption. Its not easy to eat while at work. I dont get to leave on breaks or lunches and I have to sit at the radio console and dispatch for 12 hours a day. I cant exersice at work or do anything "distracting" that isnt at the computer because of something called liability. Not only can I lose my job but I can be sued civilly if something were to happen if I was working out at work. I know its all easier said than done but come on, you know nothing of my schedule, my stresses, my routine at home, but you want to make snide remarks about my weight loss? Thanks. To all you that have answered with suggestions and encouragement I appreciate it. Oh BTW, I had a cup of corn flakes for breakfast, a salad and sandwich for lunch, and just ate a yogurt an hour ago. I brought a bag of salad and an gallon of water for later.

  3. Combination of sleep depravation, no exercise and poor diet are deadly combinations.

Dude, you hit the nail on the head. Been doing overnights now for 3 years since I started in a new village. Before that I did 8 years worth of afternoons at a super-busy town that kept my stress levels up. Im not a stress-eater but due to the nature of the job , its not uncommon to go a full shift with out eating. Id have huge meals once or twice a day , but my metabolism is non-existent. I know for a fact that I have sleep apnea. And my snoring is only getting worse. Which means Im not resting when I sleep. Realistically I'd like to drop a quick 15-20 lbs before really hitting the gym hard. One of the guys at work says I can probably lose that in water weight fairly quickly but again its my knees that keep me from really pushing it and working up a good sweat. I can lift weights no problem but Id like to get the cardio in to really shed weight.

Helterbot, where do you get that IsaTest? It sounds like I might try it to get that boost I need

  4. Wow guys! Keen em coming. This is all good stuff. Its incredible how much weight I put on from lack of exercise and eating terribly. I went from 160ish at 19 to 317 as of two weeks ago. I have literally become twice the man I used to be. Eating is such a mess for me. I eat two huge meals a day and almost no snacking. I cut out most regular sodas last year when my wife was diagnosed with diabetes and had to drink diet soda and water. I work overnights as a police-fire-ems dispatcher at 12hr shifts so my sleeping habits are worse than my eating habits. Its just become a snowball of stuff combined with work related stress that culminated in a lot of weight gain. Im really glad that a lot of you guys have/are going thru the same and it gives me inspiration to do better
  5. I had a bit of a scare a few weeks back and thought I was having a grabber. Went to the doctor and realized I finally hit my all time low(high?) and ABSOLUTELY need to lose weight. I just turned 35 last week and I'm way too young to feel like Ive been feeling the last few years. My knees cant take the daily abuse and I cant let my wife and kids down if something serious were to happen to me. I joined a gym but I cant do a lot of strenuous workouts because of the pain in my knees. Does anyone have any tips for dropping a few quick pounds so I can feel more comfortable working out? I feel if I can lose some weight, then the pain in my knees will go away and I can maximize my workouts. Thanks guys.

  6. Not in the Conquest, but in the Odyssey with all the kids...almost have to. Ill usually find an half-eaten sandwich, cookies, spilled juice/soda/milk at least once a week but the ones I dread are the fruit that roll under the seats and get wedged somewhere, those are fun to track down after you start smelling it. I buy those big disk-looking things from Walmart that look like an over-sized urinal cake in Fresh Linen scent and they work really well in the van.
  7. The last bike I had was a 97 GSXR 750. I've pretty much regretted selling it every day since it sold. I've actually been looking at the local listings for another one, but haven't found the right deal yet.

This coming from the guy that got a S-Class Benz for paintwork and some baseball cards...lol :P
  8. My first bike is a 93 Kawasaki Ex500 and I still own it. I learned to ride on ATVs and dirt bikes and the EX was my first street bike. Very forgiving for the new user and still enough oomph in the motor to get you in trouble. The Triumph you were looking at, was that the TT 600? If so I was looking to upgrade into one a couple of years ago. Beware the early 2000-01 model years. The ECU fuel/spark mapping was very buggy and had alot of owner complaints. The 02-03 years have revised mapping. The handling was pretty good for the day from what I remember and it was only a poor seller because the Jap bikes had "better" styling.
  9. The insurance covered the HHR 100% but the Quest was uninsured seeing as how its been off the road for the last two years. Homeowners insurance won't cover it because its a vehicle and needs to have its own policy. I'm keeping the car and gonna work on getting it all purty again. Its mostly cosmetic. The glass goes up and down and the door latch works from the inside but the plastics on the outside, the door handle, mirror, window trim and rear spoiler are all FUBAR. Even the wheel caps, amber side marker and taillight on that side got melted and the heat was enough to make the quarter glass seal goopy and drip onto the top of the back seat.
  10. Wow you guys. I am really humbled by your kind words and thoughts. The police did try and get as much info as possible but all this happened at 3 am and in a very quiet neighborhood. Its one of the reasons we decided to move here. The cars were destroyed so completely i dont think they could have recovered much evidence. To be honest I kinda think it was just some idiot teenagers getting their kicks stealing and setting the cars on fire or just torching cars. I didn't have anything in the car really, maybe some hand tools and CDs. I'm with Burton I'm feeling like I know at least we weren't just being singled out seeing as how my neighbors cars were also set on fire. We were just lucky the house didn't catch. At 3 am it could have ended in tragedy. Your offers are all very generous and it wasn't my intention to post in order to get stuff out of it. I was just feeling a bit overwhelmed and helpless and just wanted to share with the class what had happened. I know our cars are scarce but this group has people that are one of a kind. You guys are a class act all the way.
  11. Soooo, Ive been off the grid for awhile, lurking and such. Had alot of things going on in my life. My daughter was born preemie, we "bought" a house, but bought is in quotes because we were victims to an elaborate scam and lost house and a very large sum of money. Switched jobs-for the better- and bought, for real and for keeps this time, another house. So my Quest and other projects and hobbies just kinda had to be shelved for awhile til I got my family settled. Well, about a month ago I decided I had neglected my Quest a bit too long, so i installed a new battery, gassed it up and drove it from my mom's place where it was garaged to our new house. Two days later some jagbag decided he wanted to burglarize my Daily, an 07 HHR. But, haha, he must've been feeling extra feisty cuz after he took whatever trinkets and un-valuables i could have had there he decided to do this:

Luckily our house didnt catch fire and our Odyssey was undamaged, also I had left my wifes Pontiac at my mom's so it wasnt damaged either, but the HHR was destroyed and the Quest is charred with all the plastic on the drivers side melted. It pisses me off that people would be such lowlifes to have such a blatant disregard for others property and not have the foresight to think that setting a car on fire with it up against the garage might cause the entire thing to go up. We were the 2nd victims of the night. A neighbor from a couple of blocks down got his truck torched and the neighbor from a few houses down also had his new Veloster burned, though his was also against the garage and part of it burned as well. I just wanted to touch base with the forum and share what happened. Im probably gonna be here, on the parts for sale board so Ill be around again more often lol
