  1. Hi, this concerns my '88 quest. Recently I've been having problems with acceleration below 3k rpms or so that I would best describe as "chugging". Especially right around 2k rpms it struggles terribly to accelerate, but once it hits around 3k rpms it perks right up. After doing some reading, I'm lead to believe that it's my primary injector being flaky which is why it smooths back out around 3k rpms when the secondary injector kicks on. I've had the car for around 2 months now and this problem has progressed from being a problem only when I first take off in the car and then clearing up quickly for the rest of the day, to being a constant problem on some days. For example yesterday it was running poorly, I did a quick once over on the injector clips and added some fuel system cleaner to the tank (marvel mystery oil) and it was running better than it ever has for the rest of the day. Then, I fire her up this afternoon and it is worse than ever before and basically undriveable (it's cooler and rainy today, while it was warm yesterday if that has anything to do with it). Some other points of interest, the cabin always smells lightly of gasoline and sometimes noticeably more so when it's having a fit of "chugging". Fuel filter, plugs, and wires were replaced a few weeks ago. She also blows smoke at idle when cold (blueish white, to white), clears up for the most part when driving, I'm assuming it's the turbo. Basically I guess i'm just looking for a second opinion or any other things it might be. Thanks in advance.
  2. I replaced the thermostat a few days ago and it seems to have made a difference, my temp gauge has made it up to around halfway since then, though I still haven't managed to catch the fans running. I'll continue keeping a close eye on it as the weather starts warming up more. Thanks for all the other responses as well, good info to have on hand.
  3. Hey, I've got an '88 quest and it's temperature gauge isn't reading properly. It only goes from cold to luke warm for whatever reason, so i'm worried that the cooling fans aren't kicking on (i've checked them periodically and have yet to see them running in the couple weeks i've had it so far). What should be my course of action to get this fixed?
