FIRST PERSON INTERESTED SHOWED UP WITH CASH IN HAND...SO IT'S GONE!

    The dream lives on though....

  2. well take pics of the front air dam so we can see what it looks like and the quality :)

I am looking for an air dam, but I'm guessing shipping from Puerto Rico to Colorado would be horrible.

There is a carbon fiber air dam on here for $350, so I don't know if you'll get $250 for fiberglass.....

    Best of luck

  3. 1) He lied... A stock SQ will not beat an SRT4, let alone blow it's doors off.

    2) So what, his car and he can do what he likes with it.

If my '83 doesn't sell (I'm the 2nd owner and it has under 24K original miles), I'll give it to my daughter when she's older. (she'll be 12 in sept)

Yeah, I know....to each his own.

I guess I'm just a little jealous. The only Starquest I have ever owned still doesn't drive. I've only been for a ride in one once, and I would hate to see such a beautiful example getting trashed in a high school parking lot.

Back in the day I had more than a few dents, dings, and scratches put on my ride by unknowing teenagers.

If his daughter respects the gift and safety then I think it's wonderful for her!

Someday I will undoubtedly put my son, in a safe, reliable, but decidedly bada#% ride!!

  4. Dang, I'm a grown man and haven't even gotten to ride in an MPI car......in fact I've only ever had ONE ride in a Palermo Starion!!

Man, I gotta get my quest on the road.

Congratulations though, my son is 7 months now and it truly is the coolest thing to watch him.

He has already spent a little time in the garage with me, working on my Quest!

Many, many, blessings are yet to come to you and your family. Enjoy!!

  5. So I ran into a guy here in Denver (actually he only lives a couple of blocks from me) driving a pristine 89 Fiji. I started talking with him about it and it turns out this car only has 41k original miles.

    It's a 5spd, SHP, Fiji, TOTALLY STOCK.

It was wrecked when he got it. He put fresh paint on it new tires and is now driving it occasionally.

He says all together he has $3500 invested in the car!

No he won't sell because........are you ready for this????

ITS FOR HIS 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost cried right then and there!!!

I mean, it's great that he is giving his daughter a nice car and all, but holy crap! a beautiful, unmolested, low miles, Conquest???

He had just finished telling me how fast they are, and how he had blown off an SRT4 that morning with it!!

I can only hope that he will come to his senses and sell me the car before his daughter turns 16 (haha).

She is only 14 now, so at least there is a chance!!

  6. I just got a tip that a local pick and pull has two quests and a starion!!!

He told me the starion is a Fiji Blue car with black leather in excellent condition.

I will try to make it out there asap to get pics and asess the situation!

I will keep you all posted.

BTW. The pick n pull is in Denver :biggrinumbrella1:

  7. Well, I finally got her started!!!!

Actually pretty much fired right up!

Pouring out some pretty thick smoke right now, but hey it hasn't run in a few years!!!

Idles pretty decent, slow throttle response, didn't go over 3500rpm, it is building a little boost (not bad considering no load).

    WOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Now to bolt up the front brakes, alternator, tie up a few loose ends and take her around the block!!!!

Thanks to all members on here who have given me help along the way!!!

    :hmm3grin2orange:

  8. get a volt meter, turn the key to "on", one hot wire each to each injector, the other wire put on which ever plug you like, plug one clip onto the black injector and try to start the car and if it runs you got it right if it does not then its the other clip so swap them, done

ok you may have to cut off 4-6 or 10 inches off that old crappy turned black wire to get a good connection, putting new clips on old crap cooroded black and green strands of copper wire is stupid, you may have to unwrap that harness a foot to find CLEAN wire and you may have to splice in a section don't worry there is plenty of clean wire just keep unwrapping

its hard to tell those colors just get a volt meter and don't worry about the colors

Thanks for the help. I think I figured the wires out. Only question I still had was on the clip itself, which terminal is positive?

The only picture I could find in the manual was for measuring resistance, which is of course a non-polar measurement.

  9. you need to pay more attention when looking for stuff in the fsm,,

So here's where I'm lost. The manual shows four different wire colors for the injectors (makes sense), but the wiring in my car looks like four wires exactly the same.

I took some cleaner to the wires and now I could maybe distinguish some color, but I have no Yellow/White.

Two pairs of wires all run together, I was assuming they were paired for Primary/Secondary. But the pairing doesn't seem to match the colors listed.

Also I just wanted to make sure nothing changed from 88 to 89.

I just want to get this beast running!!!!

Unfortunately, every corner I turn the PO hacked something else. Just realized that the plug for the starter harness is cut off too!!!gggrrrrrrr!!

  10. ended up being a combination of a wiring issue and stuck injectors. got em freed up and going though. thanks

I'm having a wiring issue myself. my injector clips were cut off when I bought the car. I have replacement clips but can't make sense of the wiring.

Any help? Posted a thread in the virtual mechanic, but no responses.

  11. Bought this 89 from someone who hacked all kinds of crap.

ordered new injector clips from Dad and just need to know how to wire them up.

done a bunch of searches and scoured the manual, but still no luck.

anyone know which colors are primary and which are secondary?

I have two pairs of wires cut at different lengths so i'm assuming one pair is primary and one pair secondary.

Problem is they all look the same....yellow wire w/ black stripe.

    Any help????
