You will not need to swap out the '87 trans, but you will need the appropriate size clutch disc and pressure plate that are designed for use with this larger flywheel (same size as '88 - '89 model years). I would like to upgrade to a 240 size. Would you be aware if I can still use my tranny in my 87? or would I have to look for a newer model?
