92_All-Trac
I am in the process of disassembling my 12A turbo from my old '83 Starion but I can't figure out how to get the compressor housing apart from the center section??? I am just doing this for fun and to learn a little. I was wondering what parts are needed to rebuild this turbo? I haven't come across any gaskets other than for bolts and oil lines. The turbine shaft is really clean on this thing, it doesn't look oil starved at all. There is just one spot on the shaft where it is slightly darker, but not major. I can't figure out why the turbo was smoking when it was on the car. Is there a way to open up the center section of the turbo at all? Like I said, I am doing this for a learning experience. I want to get familiar with the anatomy on a turbo before I install my Garrett T3/T4 on my All-Trac.
