turbojew
the new caddy saab motor is a 2.8 single turbo v6 with direct injection 28 mpg in a heavy car (WITH AWD) 300 hp and torque and the ability to get a reflashed ecu from saab makes upgrades easy. Seems like an excellent motor for a SQ and is AWD if someone wanted to go as far as converting the Drivetrain.
Pierre
Direct injection has some issues with tuning and pumps, just look at the 335i bmw and mazdaspeed 3 and 6, Mitsubishi had direct injection cars in the 90's and they had problem with clogged injectors and pumps,
Leeintheconquest
It's the 3 liter variant of the 2.8 that uses direct injection. The 2.8 turbo does not. The SRX uses the 3 liter in the "luxury" models and the 2.8t in the "performance" package.
