maddmiked
What is the proper way to pull off the pulley on the power steering pump? I just orded a new one and they say it doesn't come with a pulley on it. I took the old pump to a machinest and they said it's not supposed to come off. What's the real scoop here? Pump won't show up for a coupple days so I thought I'd get some thoughts before it did. '87 Quest
Starfighterpilot
FSM page 19-32 and '88 Parts Manual page 19-50 shows the pulley as part of the shaft. If you can find a hefty gear puller that fits through the pulley holes you MIGHT be able to pull the pulley off of the shaft - or take it to a machine shop to have the pulley swapped onto the new pump. If you manage to remove the pulley w/o screwing it up, I'd still take it into the machine shop to have it pressed onto the new pump's shaft. For What It's Worth. maddmiked
Good info to know. Thanks Ken. The machine shop wanted 50 bucks to take it off. Sounds like I'll just return it, and get the correct part.
