flattiefan
About 3 months ago i put a new fuel pump on my car and It hasn't ran the same. And now that it is cold my 87 flattie will not warm up and it has really bad gas millage(around 15mpg). Tonight we saw a black cloud of smoke coming out of my car. could my fuel pump be making me run rich or could i have a bad injector.
AutoBodyGod
You need to check your fuel pressure. most aftermarket fuel pumps you buy from places like AutoZone, Advance & PepBoys just won't support the fuel pressure you need and will cause the injectors to just dump the fuel down the intake instead of spraying. I am willing to bet your fuel pump is just too weak to perform like it should, and I highly suggest to you getting a BOSCH pump.
FlattopMike
It doesn't having anything to do with the fuel pump but you might want to check your CTS. It's the 2 prong vertical temp sensor near the thermostat. It acts like a choke would telling the engine to run rich when cold. if it is broken or the wires come loose, the car will always run rich.
