i picked up a new motor today, and plan to swap it in morning

is there a guide for it?

i think ill pull engine only

so unhook all wires, pull radiator/battery, airflow sensor, piping, remove starter, unbolt flywheel shield from trans

how many bolts are in the trans to block? 4?

and of course remove hoses

think i can have it done in 1 day?

if your pulling one and dropping in another, you should be able to do it in one day, no need to remove battery..

It will take longer to put the new in than to get the old one out..

unhook all wires

unhook heater hoses

unbolt exhaust from turbo

remove piping

remove radiator, 4 bolts

remove starter, 2 bolts

remover inspection plate, 4 bolts

unbolt trans from engine 4 bolts

unbolt motor mounts 4 bolts, two on each side

87 car with 88 engine/flywheel/clutch

any tips on getting the 2 bolts at the top of the transmission?

also, what size head?

i got mine out from the top, unless your using a lift.. a long 14mm wrench works best.. or a regular 14mm wrench and a cheater bar.. lol.. all tranny bolts ar 14mm, and the two starter bolts as well..

ok thanks :), starting on it now

nope, back yard venture

Unbolt the power steering pump from the engine and let it hang so you don't have to refill it later.

ok, i did that 15 minutes ago lol

so far i have the starter off, intake pluming off, turbo off, downpipe hanging, ps pump off, alt wiring off, ground strap off, starter off (hated those bolts), flywheel cover off, 2 bottom tranny bolts off, radiator out, all 4 motor mount bolts out, wiring harness connectors disconnected

from what i can tell, all i have left is heater hoses and top 2 tranny bolts

22mm or 7/8th socket to rotate the crank while pushing it in to get the splines straight.

i was doing that, i think splines are in, i put it in 5th gr to make sure input shaft wasnt spinning and i couldnt turn motor but 1/4 turn if thaat

Have you tried inserting the lower longer bolts and using the force to pull them together? "Not starwars force" the lowers have dowel pins.

i got it in now, i moved it enough to get 1 bolt started and worked it til i got the other

hooking everything up now :)
