Hit_N_Run-player Posted June 8, 2010 Report Share Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) Hey guys just wanting to let you know what i did when it came time for my 16G to be rebuilt. I had recieved many qoutes from 600-800 to rebuid and replace the parts my turbo needed, but decided to go a different route. The regular big16G and EVO3 16G are almost the same in size (48.0mm and 48.3mm... only about .012 difference). I already had a starion big 16G with my turbine housing in td05h. Instead of paying for the rebuild i bought a new CHRA from forcedperformance.com (which they had in stock). http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FP&Product_Code=49178-09050&Category_Code=Turbo-Mitsu-CHRA Then i went to ebay picked out a evo3 compressor housing that was for a subaru that uses a MHI center housing. I havent recieved the center section yet but im confident this will be the perfect setup for me. I already checked/recieved my compressor housing (pretty good quality for ebay actually, very nice product) and checked it to my old center section and a spare evo3 blade, fits perfect and is alot bigger in size than my stock quest compressor housing, and a much larger cavity in the outlet for the compressor. All togethor this cost me 445+140 which is still close to my cost of rebuild, but i wanted a new compressor housing anyways and i like the idea of trying out a bit larger housing. Just some thoughts for those looking into a new turbo.. Right now im going to run the starion housing but only because i already made the downpipe with flex section, and the screamer pipe in 439ss and dont really wanna just cut it all up.
