I replaced my distributor today, the vacuum advance was completely bad, was like sucking on an open straw. It appears it fixed the problem. My race is this weekend, we shall find out how the 84 starion compares to my teammates rx7 with a 302 V8 at Sears Point.

Was wondering if u solved ur problem having same problem with my 84 and my lemons race is next weekend

There is one in the airbox but no airbox just a cone filter with no inlet piping for a vacuum line

Misfire/hiccup at 3700 RPM under full boost, possible causes?

Thanks i will have to check the vac adv. I want to go with a radiator that i know kragen will stock so when we cream it we can find a replacement easily. -
So we just completed the 24 hours of lemons at thunderhill with the 84 starion. The car ran great except we had to drop a bmw radiator from our other team into the car because the stock radiator stopped up. A BMW radiator does not hold enough water for the hot running starion. We would have been in the top 50 (of 160) if not for a V8 volvo hitting a co-driver in the rear driver's fender and slicing our tire on day 2, and we had no spares so a 3 hour delay caused us to place 81 completing 188 laps running for a total13 hours 38 minutes with a fastest lap of 2 minutes 29.993 seconds. The car handled like a champ and not too many cars could out accelerate us on the track, other than the V8 volvo, a geo metro with a cbr 1000 motorcycle engine, and the winning 3 series BMW. The car ran great, next is to place a heavy duty radiator into the car, one that is easily replaced and stocked and then sort out the misfire at 3700 rpm and add the intercooler. My teammates want to make more power now that they see the potential of the car. I will not be turning up the boost because this is an endurance race and parts are hard to find for this car. The other ream threw a rod bearing on day one for their bmw and had to go to a junk yard to get new rod bearings. I'm thinking that adding a heavy duty radiator and intercooler will keep the temps down. replacing the old injectors, and probably opening up the engine to look at the top and bottom end for excessive wear. I will be posting photos and videos soon of the race.

So any suggestions what could cause the misfire, it was at the same rpm everytime. I will post photos on photobucket later this week, also have great incar camera action of the race.

so the car was sold to me without the stock airbox or maf, our 24 hour of lemons race is this weekend what else can I use so we don't go boom, or anyone have one in northern ca, call me pete 831 419-9009

i have an 84 starion and the person I bought it from installed an aftermarket intake but the problem is that none of the sensors, i believe it is the MAS sensor, are connected now and the car is not running so great. Our 24 hour of lemons race is this weekend in thunderhill, NEED HELP email at spdracr58@gmail.com if you have one or have a suggestion
-
The car runs okay but i am missing the vacuum line in green that goes back across to the intake there is an jimmy-rigged aftermarket intake with no connector for the airflow sensor
-
How about the rear struts and the tubing on the cool side of the turbo
-
do you have the intake, and do you know if it is the same as an 84, spdracr58@gmail.com
-
Anybody in Central or Northern California want to get a group order for this let me know, spdracr58@gmail.com I have 30 days before my lemons race and its either this or a lexan windshield
-
so it appears that checking the timing is a great thing since ours was off 20 degrees it was like 10 degrees AFTER top dead center instead of 10 degrees BEFORE top dead center, which I think is the stock setting, not the car is running like a champ is not running hot and starts right up. going in for paint tomorrow and the seat installed, the rollcage is complete and the wiring is done for the most part. I do have a question as to where to tap in for an aftermarket boost gauge and a air fuel meter.

I have color coordinated the highlighted vacuums lines I need help with, the car is an 84 Starion. The issue is the car idles fine, revs fine when revved slowly but when floored to wide open throttle at any time the vehicle stalls to the point of stalling out. Could one of the capped vacuum lines be my problem Green - goes to passenger side on firewall where t-connector is capped off Red - to blow off valve Blue - goes to driver's side on firewall to some sensor where one is capped off (told by seller this could be problem) Purple - goes to something don't know name of component toward front of engine Yellow - goes to wastegate actuator White - two open ports into radiator temp gauge and unplugged wire Second Purple - goes to component low the photos are on photobucket which is not an allowed extension for this board?
