  1. According to my man at SPEC: "longer than a stock clutch lasts." But seriously, they dont' have them rated. It's too dependant on your driving style and the amount of power you've got.
  2. July 23rd is the end date. It doesn't look like we'll get 10 people anyways. Most of the discount is absorbed in our profit, so without the group purchase going on I can still get you one for just $10 more than the prices I listed. We'll still pick up the shipping charges too... Just shoot me an email whenever you're ready. Eventually we'll have online ordering on our website too(www.speedtricks.com) It's still undergoing construction. Thanks.. -Jeff
  3. Here's a testimonial I came across online. I thought you might be intersted to hear what somebody else had to say about it. This guy has a modded Z06 Vette. "The Star(SPEC) clutch needs to be broken in, and it's not fun. It's so grippy, I liken it to a light switch as it's either "on" or "off." So, you will either kill the engine, or it will chatter a bit for the first 200 miles. Then it gets a lot better. When it fumbles a little, it's usually my fault. After 1st gear it's no problem.....even when new. Down shifting, which I try not to do too much of on the street as it just wears out your clutch faster, requires faster clutch release and matching engine and clutch speeds. If you take your time and the engine slows down too much you will feel a little jerk when it grabs because of the speed mis-match. This clutch hooks up like no other I've ever had. My buddy was watching me speed shifting and said the front end really jumps a good 6'....maybe a little more."
  4. My mistake, the ratings ARE for torque and not horsepower. Â When I was typing the post, I didn't notice what I'd done. Â Thanks for catching that! Another note: The stage 3 and 4 units are available with carbon or ceramic pads. The ceramic/copper pad provides a big more bite, but the carbon is easier on the pressure plate/flywheel.
  5. Ok, here's the scoop... Stage 1(328 lbs tq) = Kevlar woven organic facing Stage 2(378 lbs tq) = Pure kevlar Stage 3(425 lbs tq) = 4 Puck w/ sprung hub Stage 4(435 lbs tq) = 4 Puck w/o sprung hub Stage 5(610 lbs tq) = Cindered Iron disc According to my source at SPEC, these hp estimates are listed VERY conservatively.
  6. Hey everybody... I'm representing Speedtricks of Rapid City, SD. Â We sell import/domestic performance parts and I thought I'd see if you guys are interested in SPEC clutches(Star Performance Engineered Clutches.) Â I'm using one of these in my V8 Fiero project because other V8 Fiero owners have had slippage with over 300hp using the Centerforce DF clutch. Â These are wicked clutches, and they're an awesome value as well. Â I'd get one for my '87 Starion, but it's an auto... Â Â I'll probably need about 5 takers to get you these prices. Â Â The Stage 3 setup is surprisingly streetable from what I've heard. Â I've used an unspring 4-puck before(similar to stage 4) and it wasn't bad either! Â I could chirp my tires into 3rd gear with a mildly modified V6 Fiero! Â SPEC customer service is also awesome, I love dealing with this company. Â My Stage 3 clutch is shown below... ALL PRICES INCLUDE SHIPPING!!!(within continental US) -------83-85/87 NON-INTERCOOLED Stage 1= $250 (retail is 279, and we're giving free shipping!) Stage 2= $285 Stage 3= $300 Stage 4= $310 -------83-85/87 INTERCOOLED Stage 1= $235 Stage 2= $285 Stage 3= $300 Stage 4= $310 Stage 5= $395 -------86/87-89 ALL Stage 1= $285 Stage 2= $312 Stage 3= $330 Stage 4= $330(not a type-o, same price at stage 3) Stage 5= $410 Payments will be accepted via money order payable to speedtricks (to keep things simple) and Paypal(speedtricks@rushmore.com) with an addional $5 surcharge. Speedtricks 1425 Mt. Rushmore Rd. Rapid City, SD 57701 email any questions or concerns to: speedtricks@rushmore.com Note: The group buy will expire July 23 and the orders will be shipped approximately 3 days afterwards. Thanks everybody! -Jeff http://images.prosperpoint.com/images/2564/129207-1.jpg
  7. My '87 tranny is junk too.... Slips like a one of the water-weenies. Does anybody know if there are any auto trannies that will work besides starquest ones(ex: other chysler/mistu cars?) I'm also thinking about going manual. I've been told some old chysler/mitsu pickups had a manual tranny that'll work.
