  2. hello. well im not too new to starions. but a newbie to the whole forums and such. own 3 star/quests right now. i am in the mits of building my 88 starion with a gt 60trim turbo 1000cc injectors and megasquirt. my problom is in weather or not to run her tbi untill i find/can afford a mpi.... im running stock internals with 30xxx miles on them. I only am using this big of a turbo cause i got a ballbearing garret turbo, megasquirt(fuel injection pro) and injectors for $200... i only wanna maybe 15 to 20psi pf boost till i finish my other motor. Is it safe to say i hurt her trying this with tbi or could and has it been done safely? Im a new dad working two jobs to get things right. so im not balling on no budget. any and all advise is nice. please and thank you.
  3. Hey guys, still having woes getting my stock setup on a built motor to run right. Starts idles fine, warms up then steady, fans all coming in OK too. Gradually press pedal standing revs rise OK. Try to move away, accelerate more than a snails pace or snap throttle open she just dies. Standing or moving. She'll slowly accelerate through gears to around 50mph as long as the rpms don't go much above 2500. Needle hits 0 pressure she coughs and pops. Forged and balanced short motor, pauter rods, JE pistons, Fidanza, TEP head ported, large valves and cam etc. Last time I asked about a couple of problems as I was trying to run the engine in on stock TBI and turbo. Since then i've replaced the dizzy with a good one from my girls Starion, the knock box and the TPS too (which I checked). I found crud waste deep in the tank so that has been removed and chemically cleaned along with replacing the pump with a Walbro 255 and a new filter. Also both injector clips. Tonight I tried replacing the vac line to the dizzy with a single piece and checked for other air leaks. getting worried I'm going to pop a new engine here if I don't find it soon Any ideas where to look next. Big air leak? Secondary?

Intercooler upgrade, ported head, stock size ss valves, degreed hr70 cam. 7-1 pistons. 2g mas, 850 / 1400 injectors. Race gas blend. Tuned with Neo afc and Innovate logworks data logging. First run about 21 psi average. Boost was choppy. This is a spikey turbo. We leaned out the turbo spool up and tweaked the fuel a little up top. Last run 25 psi average. The boost trace smoothed out some as we raised the boost. We let it cool for the last pull and made sure the intercooler was fully cooled. But could not get 300. Made 300 uncorrected, does that count? The extra boost and tuning mostly helped the torque. I am really pleased with the torque. Edit, I also gained hp in the 3500-4800 rpm range. It was just the peak hp that stayed about the same. Shop wide band was reading .6-.7 leaner. I need to do a recalibration. I meant to do it beforehand. My car still has some of the 1.75 intercooler piping on it, that will be the next upgrade. Edit, this turbo really should have an external waste gate. That would probably add a little power as well as better boost control. My short block was pulled from a parts car with a sized motor. It turned out to be a fresh stock rebuild that spun a bearing and locked up when an oil line failed. I replaced the crank, bearings and head. The head was replaced again last year. I have been flogging it for 4 years.   5. Is a Bosch 044 Pump enough for E85? who has run one? What is needed to install? I seem to have found the limits of my current pump, 1050 / 1800 injectors and modified stock regulator all at the same time.
