Hello all, I have a stock engine that was rebuilt by Jasper engines about a decade ago by the PO. That being said, there has been some issues in the driveability of my quest recently and after servicing/replacing all the known major points of failure for our cars such as: - Fuel system (injectors, FPR, Fuel Pump, Fuel lines, Fuel filters, Throttle body "rebuild" w/ new gaskets, o-rings and all that jazz), - Electrical (Wiring, Relays, new Fusible links, injector clips, ISC/MPS, TPS, Grounding points, CTS, ECU) - Ignition (Servicing Dizzy and installing new Cap, rotor, Pick up Coil, vacuum advance, BUR7EA11 plugs, NGK plug wires, and Ignitor) 10* BTDC base timing - Emissions (Dad's Turbo PCV valve, New Vacuum hoses, o2 Sensor, EGR Delete) - Boost Leakdown test - passed - TPS, ISC reset I Have STILL been experiencing OCCASIONAL/INCONSISTENT issues while the engine is cold and warming and also issues when under boost - it feels like the turbo is working against the engine while under boost. I try not to dog the thing, but it is my means of transportation. So to cut to the chase I figured the next best place to look is something mechanically wrong with the engine. I have heard of issues with the Jet Valves and some problems they may cause - that was my prime suspect. Ordered a Jet Valve elimination kit that i had yet to install, so I figured I would knock another problem off the checklist Today. Off with the valvecover and the rocker assembly and voila! Removed the Jet Valves and put the Elimination plugs in their place. The Jet valves did not give any indication that they were failing, and looked pretty good IMO. While i was Inspecting the Lifters and Rockers I noticed one Lifter did not want to slide out of the Rocker very easily like the others, and here is why: http://i.imgur.com/qfNqFnol.jpg I think its broken. haha Now when inspecting the Inside of the Rocker, it looks like it has been beat up a little bit on the very edges, not exactly where the lifter sits (about the 11 to the 4 o'clock position in the picture) kind of a ring around where the lifter sits starting at (what i am hypothesizing) is the 2nd oil port on the side. http://i.imgur.com/H7Z5J98l.jpg It is brutally obvious that I will need a new lifter and probably a new rocker arm.. It is the No.1 Cylinder Exhaust rocker. My questions are: 1) Is it wise to just replace the one lifter? I am not doing anything with the cam - it will not be serviced/ replaced. Will replacing all of the lifters effect anything negatively? (I'm assuming not, but that is why I am asking) I am under the impression that hydraulic lifters are automatically adjusting and pretty forgiving - Ordered 8 new Hydro lifters from DAD today. 2) Is replacing one rocker arm a good idea? or should all of them be replaced at the same time? I had not been expecting to run into this, I'm sure nobody ever does, but I am in unfamiliar territory and could use some guidance on how to proceed. Thanks for bearing with me!

soo, first off, FIRST POST, woooo ! 87 widebody mt conquest. second off, my car is in dire need. i bought it for 1500 about 2 months ago, with 108,000 on the clock. hard crossover pipe, and some crappy (but not leaking) BOV changed sparkplug wires, plugs, cap, rotor, blaster two coil. oil change, k&n filter (had no filter prior) turbo pcv valve rebuilt throttle body, new injector clips, vacuum advance, fuel filter. dropped fuel tank and installed new stock pump. tank had rust hole on top, patched with chunk of metal and rtv. put power steering fluid in system. ( i ******** up.) built 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust with ebay muffler. 3 inch ebay downpipe., no cat. so it developed a tick at low rpms, thought it was loose timing chain, bought timing chain kit, bse kit and head gasket and bolts.but i ******** up and didn't get an oil pump gasket, so i used rtv, and let it cure for two days. assembled together, started first try, but now it knocks really hard. sounds like top end, but not sure. also, i suspect bad compression dude to poopy-tail piston rings. i'm like 90% on that. but i ran out of funds, and i'm an idiot with a 24 year old DD. any help would be amazing. i pulled off the rocker set and checked the lash self adjusters, three were seized solid, and one is like blown out. it is noticeably floppy, and not smooth or anything. whats the deal with these? fix, replace? i have a very limited budget, and little time. and thanks everyone in advance! pics soon.
