  1. Hello Everyone My name is Monica! I am from the SF Bay Area. I just got my first Starion 86' Turbo. My previous cars before were a RWD 81 corolla and 91 Supra turbo. My starion is allllll stock and is 5spd manual. White exterior/ Burgundy interior. My boyfriend and I been under the hood for replacing parts: Alternator and alternator belt, battery, water pump, themorstat, distributor, valve cover gasket, turbo gasket and exhaust manifold gasket, and the spark plugs and spark plug wires. We are next going to do the rod bearings because it is slightly knocking. I just got a scytek alarm installed and an aftermarket radio and my hello kitty shiftknob.
  2. First I would like to say thank you for such a great Quest meeting place. The information and people here are phenomenal! I finally bought my first quest after 25 years. I wanted one of these SO bad when I first saw one in 1987 at the age of 16. Kids, career etc... kept me from purchasing one. I ran across one a few months ago. I had taken a new job here in South Carolina as a Consultant / Manager last November. I was living in my 5th wheel at the local campground until my wife could liquidate and move our belongings from North Carolina. One evening during my evening walk I noticed a car cover under a one of those metal buildings that had what looked like a fairly small car. I didn't think much at the time but night after night during my walks my something kept telling me to go over and take a peek at it. One evening on my walk I noticed the wind had blown the cover back just enough to expose just a smidgen (For you non-Southeners, smidgen = a very small amount) of the front end. I noticed it was red. That was enough to get the best of my curiosity. I strolled over and pulled the cover back a bit. Then, I couldn't resist. I pulled it back further to realize it was a dust covered, 88 Conquest Wide Body, 5 speed, that had apparently been sitting for quite some time. It was beside the camp ground garage so I immediately hustled to the office and inquired about the vehicle. The lady said it belonged to her husband who was not there and she thought he may be interested in getting rid of it. I waited eagerly for him to return and jumped him as soon as he pulled into the driveway. We went out and pulled the cover off it and he began to explain the ENTIRE history of the car. Although his story was interesting I was about to explode wanting to know if it were for sale or not. I finally blurted it out (Trying... keyword TRYING not to sound to overly eager about buying it) "Is it for sale?" He said " yeah, I'd thought about it" He explained how he had sent the wheels off two years earlier to California to be refurbished etc.. and I'm thinking "well, here we go" he's going to want a fortune for it. I asked again " well, what do you think you'd to have for her if you sold it"? He hem hawed around ( Southen defenition = stalled me) and thought and thought. I'm thinking the whole time how excited I was to hear him say he'd sell it and at the same time scared to death he would want a war pension for it. He finally paused and said "how's $500 sound?" I replied.. "I'll be right back" I went to the bank, got the cash, and rushed back as fast as I could. Come to find out he had had the car since it was new. Sticker on the tag said Feb. 2005. It had been sitting for 6 years in the garage and the last year under that car cover. He said it ran when he parked but wouldn't start when he tried starting it a couple months back. He said he thought a fuel pump would solve the problem. I put a new fuel pump on it and have been driving it ever since. This car has a VERY small amount of surface rust over the drivers side rear wheel and paint is chipping slightly in a couple spots. Other than that, freakin perfect. No leather tears, dash cracks, dents, nothing. Interior looks new with the exception of the tops of the rear seats are fading ever so slightly. Sorry for the long story but I thought some may appreciate it as it is a pretty cool story. I am going to do a mild build so please check out my future posts in the help section as there is nearly NO information or parts for this thing anymore as I am slowly finding out. Anyways, enough rambling! Thanks again for the site and thanks for all the information, I'll post some pics real soon. -Chris
  3. So I figured I'd post this here as I feel like a newb asking and I didn't see anything about it in my searches. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mitsubishi-Starion-Conquest-T3-Stainless-Turbo-Manifold-/270953464370?hash=item3f1615c232&item=270953464370&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_3255wt_1163 It's a T3 manifold for our (4G54B) cars. Seems like it could spell out G-O-O-D F-U-N But, with good fun also comes the possibility for D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R Let me know what you guys think. I don't mind being the test dummy on this one, I think it'd be interesting.
