  1. I have a craftsmen 110v welder that I use strictly with flux core. The thing is awesome and i have built headers, exhausts, trans tunels, modified steering knuckles welded coilovers efc. but when I need to do thin stuff or Al I have a Miller Syncrowave 200. I am a certified welder it just takes a lot of practice and a little knowledge.

Get what you can afford used, you can almost always turn around and sell it for a profit later. Done that a few times.

  2. I had a small 16g with cams and full port work. Laid down 280hp and 320ft/ lb at 18psi. The car was super rich at peak torque and leaning out around the peak hp. With a better tune I could have pushed a few more psi to where the 16g really shines and laid down way more power.
  3. Sure, there's a lot you can do. You can have the stock turbo bored for an 06SL2 turbine wheel and a 16G compressor wheel, then turn up the boost to 15 psi. Watch for a 52 mm throttle body/intake combo to pop up in the parts section. I've built several Megasquirt systems inside of the stock ECU case for California guys, it allows you to take full advantage of all those parts above. Add a turbo back 3" exhaust (with aftermarket 3" cat) and you'll have all the power you can handle with a completely stock look that will sail through emissions testing.

I was thinking about hitting you up for an MS in the stock case, would you have the ability of controlling the secondary air and egr solinoid and the factory ISC? I wouldn't want to run the mass but leave it in as a dummy. Also full control of the ignition with the possibility of easily swapping the factory ecu back in if any problems arise?

  4. Just had this 87 pulled completely apart dash, engine etc. and I'm finally getting to firing it up but the fuel pump isn't priming while cranking but does run when using the test port. I'm not getting spark from the coil and the tach isn't jumping while cranking but I am getting small voltage jumps from the igniter when cranking. I am getting voltage on both sides of the coil and it ohms out right. So I went to test the red wire on the knock box and I'm not getting any power, tested the red wires on the ECU and also no power. Where does the source of the power for these wires come from? I also found this plug next to the ecu, am I missing some relay?
