About Me

Bought my first StarQuest 1997?, a White 1989 Conquest shipped from Clearwater, Florida to Roanoke , Virginia (where I resided at the time).

Had it repainted after I neglected to pull emergency brake completely or put car in gear after parking. It subsequently then rolled into my home. Time for a repaint!

The a few days after dropping it off to be painted, the painter called me to ask if I wanted some Pearl, (he had some left over?) I said sure it was repainted with a maroon(pinkish) and blue pearl. The paint really popped.

Several months later, the head gave out and engine was pulled (I was going to have it completely rebuilt). But, I never had car fixed (Lack of funds) and was towed away to never been seen by me again.

2013 I purchased a 1988 Black Conquest locally (Parkersburg, WV.)

While driving to get all fluids flushed and or changed, the turbo began making grinding noises and the cooling system puked brown fluid when I arrived. I had the turbo replaced with a T3/T4 Hybrid from TEP.

The acceleration was not up to what I expected, then the car would not accelerate (it fell on its face?).

Then it would stall and not start fro several minutes. Back to the shop.

Mechanic ran a compression test and all cylinders where at around 80.

It is now having the head pulled to inspect and get magnafluxed.

After reading many of the stories of rebuilding and repair on this site, I ponder that I do not have the skills to own one these cars, but I do, and I would not change it.
