how do I lower boost on 88 starion ?

I am new to turbos, how do I lower the boost on my 88? Just bought it a couple of weeks ago and finally got it running. She is running ok, but I notice when I goose her the boost gauge shoots past 14. I want to learn more about her before she blows up. thanks Pete

Primart injector flows good. The shop that cleaned them was Mike Turbo in Miami, he left the green injector soaking for a long time he says. His conclusion was that someone previously had altered the injector nozzle to spray more. Probably need to replace the green one.

The injectors were just professionally cleaned, my question is how is the spray for the secondary injector supposed to look ? Right now it looks more like a stream instead of a vee shaped mist. thanks miami 88 starion

88 starion 5 speed - What is the part that sits on top and to the rear of this throttle body? It looks like it may have been some kind of fuel pressure regualtor. It has a gauge in it and it looks all cruddy. Can it be removed and plugged? The car has new injector clips and I am getting the injectors cleaned this weekend. Check out the picture and let me know. The car starts but immediately shuts down. The throttle can be feathered and she will stay on for a few seconds. I bought the car a week ago as a project for me and my son to work on. At this point we want to be able to fix it to drive it around. thanks Pete

88 starion, 5 speed and I have had it 2 weeks now. She will not stay running. As long as I spray starter fluid into the throttle body she will idle. That is the best I can do. I am about to change the injectors. Is there anything I need to know before I swap them out? Is there somewhere that cleans them? I have purchased the clips also. Pete

Bought the injecot clips today from engine machine service. You suggest cutting back the hacked up wire and install fresh wire? I think it is 14 gauge. Have not looked to see the spray pattern of the injectors.

I saw you mentioned you have a GLH also. I would have loved to find a GLH before I found this current Starion 88. Have you restored the GLH. A Omni GLHS is a rarer find here in Miami. The kids here do not know what a GLH is. My Starion is only recognized by older folks or hardcore motorheads. Post pics of the GLH.

Just bought it last week. The previous owner hacked into the injector wiring and intake hose has duct tape to cover holes. He said he installed an upgraded turbo. I have not looked into that because I just want it to drive around the block. I will post pictures soon and thanks again.

Thanks to all for the info. One more question: will the car idle if I only primary injector working? Also the car will somewhat idle if I continuosly pump the accelerator and after about 20 seconds of this it will die...........thanks again to all.

Is the primary injector on the left or right? If you are standing in front on vehicle looking at engine.

88 starion 5 speed and it will not idle on its own. First thing is the car will turn over and rev to 3000 rpm and then die. If you continue to try to start it will start and idle only if you pump the accelerator continuosly. There is a fuel odor after all of this. New plugs wires and coil and fuel pump. 88 starion 5 speed about 130,000 miles. It starts and then it immediately dies. The engine does not idle on its own, you must pump the accelerator to keep it alive. The plugs are new (NGK), wires and distributor cap. The previous owner hacked into the electrical wires leading to the injectors. I switched the wiring and it idles better but still not on its own. One last note, when you first try to start her she will start and idle and accelerate to 3000rpm and then immediately die.................
