  1. Here the rent prices are all over, studios start at + or - 1,000 and single homes with a garage are not that common with prices starting at 2,000 and well beyond that.

Jeff, if possible buy a home, it will probably be less than renting. What we did was rent at first to make sure we liked the area and then went on to purchase for about the same cost per month as rent. I can't imagine the real estate dropping much more so this is a good time to buy. Wish you much success to your decision!

  2. this thread was start'd out on a very touchey topic one that has already been warn'd against starting , pay attention to that fact when replying ,

no one here cares if your red, white or dark skin'd ,or any color inbetween ;) , skinny or fat , male or female

we don't care what your religous beliefs are or lack of , no one cares what part of the world you are in, this is a car site not a church , this site is here to provide help if need'd and a place to get to know each other ,

no one here cares if yyou even own a Conquest or starion or not , owning one of these cars is not a member requirement , the rules are simple and nothing extrordinary in any way , respect others and they will respect you in return

I agree with most you say here and that we don't discriminate but not with the "no one cares part". We all have different experiences and what works for us and that is all one has to offer others. You mention "respect others", that is key to keep things civil, if done in a proper way I think politics and religion have their place on any forum.

To stay silent just because the topic is too sensitive shouldn't be the governing rule, we're all grownups here and starting with me we can all benefit on molding ourselves to have civilized discussions without verbally reaching for each other's throats.

  3. There's been a lot of heat put on Chip last few days, it's been brewing for a long time and was bound to happen, but not all of it was fueled by Chip on himself, I have to admit that some of it was induced by me also and I apologize to Chip and others here, I do carry strong beliefs in God and sometimes I step over the line trying to force feed my belief on the members here, being new to the faith it's a fine line I'm still learning to walk.

Chip, you have a good arsenal of knowledge but sometimes when you use it some here get wounded by friendly fire, I am saying this because I think for the most part you mean well but the recipients perceive it as a putdown, knowledge is a form of weapon and needs to be handled and carefully managed like one.

I am saying this in a constructive way to you, myself and everyone else here.

SQC is made up of a variety of people with a common passion, we are a sizable group of many ages, backgrounds, interests, education levels and some are even of different nationalities, we're a melting pot and our adherence is the care we all have for each other, like a big family and when one of us is hurting it has a ripple effect because everyone here matters.

In my opinion it is what makes SQC so strong, we all make a good foundation for this club to stand on. This last meet in Mesquite/Vegas, I wasn't able to drive

my conquest there but ended up taking my dd because of the people, Bill flew in, some made it the last day, Larry and Robert drove a long way just to be there, all just to hang out with the fellow members, just like a big italian family (I say this because my grandma was italian and almost every weekend we were all together celebrating something, life I suppose), miss those days. Sotty, even though you're not italian, again you did an awesome job last meet,

you were like the godfather and took great care of everyone there, thanks again!

I am not well known to most here but i do want to extend my appreciation for the people that unselfishly devote their time and talents to maintain and improve this club and don't expect anything in return.

  5. Tonight I was on my way home and as I pulled up to chevron there was an older Vdub gti hatch with a couple guys in it and as I get out my car the driver walks out the door nearly breaking his neck looking at my car. So while I'm in the store I look outside and see them all staring at my car as they drive by very slow. I'm pretty sure they were puzzled to know what it is.

That's one of the fun factors about these cars, seeing the puzzled look on people!

  6.

What you thought was "god's call" was actually your psyche. This is why religion is a universally common human invention; it's a natural outcome of self-awareness. What you did when you "answered to it" was succumb to the emotional torment of not knowing how it all started or why it all has to end. What you've done by saying that my approach ends in emptiness is condescend to me, but don't sweat it. It's not the first time.

Condescending or not emptiness is what I'm left with when it comes to talking to you about God. To you He doesn't exist (empty) and that's the ground you stand on, therefore that's the only possible thing you have to offer. You say He doesn't exist and I say He does. Will we ever agree on the existence of God, not until the day you accept Jesus in your life.

  7.

To me though, saying that you think there has to be more than just this is like admitting that you have yet to grasp the grandeur of what is. If there is so much, why does there need to be more? We long for there to be something more so that we don't have to face the truth of our end. But we didn't exist before we were born, and it didn't bother us a bit.

And you should say that the missing piece of the puzzle for you was the "idea" of god, since that's all you can possibly have. None of us can "know" anything about any god except the ideas that are shared with us by others, so we have the "idea" of god. Yours is a common mistake known in literary circles as a UME, or Use-Mention Error. You "used" the word god, when you only had enough information to justify "mentioning" the word god. No believer has ANYTHING but an "idea of god", period, and their faith is placed in the person or people who gave them the idea, not in "god itself".

Chip, the difference between you and me is that I answered to God's call and you so far has rejected it. Your rationale no matter how well you present it still ends in emptiness.

  8. same thing happened to me and a buddy in his type r integra.. only thing is the other integra followed us to a gas station and tried to rob my friend of his type r haha it was 1 person with a baseball bat vs 2 with knives hahaha

I admit that ill intent was the first thing that raced in my mind when they pulled up, pretty crazy what happened to you guys, glad you're still here to tell about it!

  9. Patra, your thoughts have played in my mind many times and I think at some point in life in the minds of most out there.

We're all stuck on this planet with so much going on, hurtling through space at alarming speeds, all seems so normal

or mundane and at the same time so extreme, our 5 senses being tested several times everyday just to stay alive,

once I saw this bumper sticker: He who dies with the most toys wins! Really? I would say he's the biggest loser!

So what does one do? Some take to drugs, become workaholics, seek fame, status, get deeply snared in religious legalism,

some even try to conquer their own country or a foreign country and execute masses of people, others are

fighting to survive while some just give up on life and self terminate, so much madness, misinformation, anger,

aggravation, mistrust, racing against the clock, bills, fines, taxes, fees, traffic jams and violence/insults, impatience,

and on and on. Much of the above happens in the name of lets make things better and yet our families are being

ripped apart by divorce and kids get dragged along without a choice, most of us have the best of intentions and

at the same time fail miserably, before we know we're aging and getting close to death, then we look back on our

life and think, was it all worth it, or better yet, necessary? What kind of grade would you give yourself? Even if its

an A+, does it really matter? After you're lying 6 feet deep in dirt, who will remember you? And if they do, what

difference does that make, people will do what they want anyway!

Death is everyone's ultimate reward no matter how well you did or failed or how important and famous, death is not a fair

reality for those who appreciate their life and the life of their loved ones , most live life like death is not going to happen to them

but i wonder how different this world would be if everyone took the reality of death more seriously, I think it would bring a greater

appreciation for the lives of their closest people, friends, neighbor, colleagues and mostly their own life.

Such thoughts is what caused me to seek something bigger than myself, this world has way too much to offer,

way too much going on to just end it in death. Family, friends, seasons, patriotism, nature, exploration, science,

desire, success, failure, inventions, this drive to move forward and so much more is not by accident, this feeling

of emptiness that never goes away no matter how much you have or accomplished to me as I saw it was a

divine calling in my life and that missing piece to the puzzle in my life was God. To most in the world it is

a ridiculed choice and looked upon with a demeaning eye, but to me personally I am much too aware and

don't believe all this just simply goes away at death, there must be more, a greater purpose must be out there

or all this that we have now would not exist.

  10. Second video, more to come......

Too bad the camera captured mostly wind noise because there are some sweet sounding conquests in this video!

Check out the 'vette powered 'quest make a fast right to left pass at the beginning of this video and at about 4:55 the chrome powered one

does the same thing and just disappears into the sunset!

At the exit to the track you will hear that sweet sounding 1UZ and many others, Sotty really hammered out of that exit, ........

  11. Came home from work, warmed up the conquest and went for a joy ride around town before the big snow hits, last couple miles driving home I noticed this vehicle kept following kinda close, it is all uphill to my house so I pushed it and got some distance, as I'm getting out of the car I noticed this integra pulling up to my driveway, it was the same vehicle that I felt was following me, ended up being 2 guys having an argument that it was not a supra because it had a rotary engine! So I set them straight and the passenger smacks the driver on the shoulder, told ya it wasn't a supra!

They complemented on the conquest and went on their way, that just made my evening!

  12. Here's the first video, more to come, sorry for the delay but my mac was down until now.

This is a video heading to Mesquite then Vegas, met up with Tim_C and Patrick in Grand Junction Colorado and headed west, that black flatty Jackie Chan used in the cannonball run was saved by Tim_C and it runs strong, I was amazed how well and fast that car is, many times I had to chase it pretty hard just

    to stay with it.

Sadly my ride had to stay home because of weather but even so I had fun seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones, great times and a big thank you to our main man Sotty for organizing and hosting another great meet, it was better than the last one, we even had some show up late just to take some part of it, even trailering their ride there! Now that's commitment and a true fan of these cars and the club!

It was my first time using this type of camera, so it didn't come out like I thought it would, too much wind noise and it wasn't positioned right for the angle it captures, also I needed to follow the cars much closer and should have stayed closer to the speeds of the other cars, but there's enough good in it for enjoyment, hope everyone's rides were captured in the film, I forgot my glasses in the hotel room and when I came back outside the lot was empty, most cars had already left for Vegas so I had to hustle to catch up with everyone and had fun doing so!

  13. By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.

Exodus 13:21 (Since the Lord obviously takes interest in the safety of our journeys here's a prayer for this upcoming travel to Mesquite)

Lord, may everyone attending the west coast national meet in Mesquite/Vegas have a safe trip and that all stays well with their loved ones back home!

Lord, bless Scotty and the people that put much effort planning and organizing this 2nd event, may everything go well for us and the staff at the hotel for they

make our stay there as worry free as possible so we can better enjoy the event and our passion for our unique rides.

To our men and women serving this great nation, freedom is not free and Lord you understand the cost of freedom better than anyone else, for our sake you humbled yourself and served us all the way to the cross and three days later you came back to life forever defeating the sting of death, it is your most precious gift to us!

At this 2nd event, let us not forget the many reasons we're able to come together, the reasons go well beyond the initial organizers, let us be thankful that this is still one nation

under God, thankful to our soldiers that protect our freedom with their own lives and just like you Lord, they ask for nothing in return but to make the most of it for a better life for ourselves, families and our nation, because of this protected freedom we are able to plan an event such as this, its another way for us to enjoy and celebrate our freedom.

Let's be thankful for our family support, for the fellow starquesclub members unselfishly helping each other, thankful that we enjoy safe travel along our roads and the comradery found in

the starquestclub, we all have at some point fought with our cars with the help from so many in this forum.

Thank you Lord for your grace and blessings and may you send a guardian angel to ride along with everyone attending this 2nd event!

    Amen

  14. So, Are you guys ready to have some fun :D

    Bill

Yesterday went for a 180 mile round trip to my brother's place, everything went well, ran strong and the AC was nice and cold, today changed the oil and conditioned the leather, Tuesday I will be doing detail cleaning inside and out, Wednesday getting it aligned and waxed, Thursday my brother, my son Chris and I will head west and meet up with Tim, we should arrive in Mesquite before sunset :D :D :D

  15. Cold air, last winter we had -40 to -60, wish my conquest could be driven at that time but too much snow and I doubt it would start anyway. I did wonder how much extra punch the 'quest would have with those very low temps!

Right now our temperatures have already dipped to high 20's low 30's and the HP difference is noticeable!

Warm temperatures closer to sea level gives my 'quest better results than the cold air at 9 to 10 thousand feet elevation.

  16. Back in 1990 when I was in Germany, if the Autobahn wasn't too congested people there seemed content averaging 90mph, of the few thousand miles I drove there not once did I see a driver pass on the right, they will ride your bumper and keep flashing their brights until you move from the fast/passing lane. Did not see any accidents either, and that includes all the surrounding countries. I did a lot of 120 to 130 mph average when the Autobahn was not too congested, the rest of the time it was around 80-90 mph average.

The speed is nice and addicting, but what I enjoyed most was being able to concentrate on driving only and not having to worry about cops on the side of the highway or passing one, it was kind of surreal to pass a cop doing 100+ and be totally relaxed, I do think higher speeds are safer because you get tunnel vision and don't get distracted by your surroundings, you will also not care about music (at least for me) or other common distractions that slower speeds allows like eating your lunch while driving, dialing on your cell phone and who knows what else now days. Careless and inconsiderate driving is what causes most accidents, higher speeds at least for me makes my driving much more attentive and less distracted. Now days, even a 10 year old car if properly maintained can easily do and sustain speeds in excess of 80-90 miles per hour.
