  1. if ancient religious texts can be used as proof of themselves, wouldn't that make ALL of them true? the difference for bible believers is simply faith. faith makes it true for y'all.

quit trying to 'prove' anything. you cannot. the truth exists for you because of faith, not evidence.

So believers, archeologists, scientists, historians are to roll over and die on the subject of prophecies just because you say prophecies are false?

What about the studies of architecture, language, tools, pottery, literature, art,.......investigations confirming biblical accounts?

Are all those investigations that agree with the bible wrong?

  2. Chip, when you say:

That's enough for now. If you fellas are able to explain these, I'll have about 500 more for you.

What this tells me is that one can prove to you a 1,000 prophecies to be 100% correct and you

would still not change your mindset.

What are the odds of just 1 prophecy to turn out 100% correct?

The bible is filled with fulfilled prophecies!

And yet it is still not enough to cause one to have faith that God exists.

Faith ( I believe even you said this before ) is born out need.

It takes a person to first recognize that they are sinners and need a savior.

Salvation is a gift from God, it cannot be earned by works.

  3.

    WEEEEE!!!!!!

What religion are you inferring to? You really can only think of one religion that has coincidental "prophecies" that correlate with their book of worship....You should be a comedian....

I'm terrible at telling jokes but you made me laugh!

  4. Chip, God can and will stop Satan. It is even prophesied how God will do that.

One third of the bible is about prophecies, all fulfilled prophecies have been 100% right.

I can't think of any other religion that can back up their word with prophecies.

    As for the thinking people:

    Isaiah 55:8-9

8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are my ways higher than your ways

and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  5. Something I saw today made me curious. People say god is love and satan is bad. But,.... in the bible how many people did satan kill? How many people did god kill? I can't think of a single story involving satan killing someone. But I can think of stories where god laid waste to entire cities and civilizations. Seems kinda ironic to me. Can anyone think of a story involving satan killing someone?

Wow Jeff, your question took off like wildfire in just a few days!

People are right in saying that God is love, here are some verses about it:

1 John 14:31 Anyone who does not love does not know God,

    because God is love.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son,

that whoever believes in him shall not perish but

    have eternal life.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we

were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Satan(adversary), devil(slanderer), deceiver(as an angel of light),.......nothing loving about him!

Look what Satan did to Job, he caused a wind and brought down Job's

oldest son's house killing Job's 10 sons and daughters.

Satan influenced raiding parties to steal Job's livestock and kill almost all his servants.

Then Satan afflicted Job with a painful disease, Job was then wrongfully accused by

his friends, lost respect before the people, even his own wife wished him dead!

In the book of Job, it is clear that Satan can influence people to do his will, which

is to destroy and murder. Satan cannot force it like some people say: the devil

made me do it! So who knows how many millions have

been murdered because of Satan's influence.

There's a big difference between God's love for us and Satan's desire to murder.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that

they may have life, and have it to the full.

There's a difference between kill and murder.

When we sentence a criminal to death, we are killing not murdering.

The court judged and justified the killing of the criminal.

From Genesis, God first killed when He gave Adam and Eve animal skins

to cover their shame, an animal life was sacrificed because of their sin.

Without a doubt the scriptures tell us that God kills, God does judge and

can be an executioner or order an execution.

Starting with Adam, God told him that the consequence of sin is death.

Adam was never killed but he knew why he was someday going to die.

Does God have the right to kill? Yes, and God also gave us that same right.

Justification and many times warnings comes before an intentional kill or killings

from God and even from ourselves. Does that make it unjust or evil, I don't think so.

  6. These ultra small vehicles, they save space, easy to maneuver, economic,.....

But what about safety? Check out the video, both small cars do well at 70mph crash.

    But what about the occupants?

Most accidents are against other vehicles, notice at the beginning of this video when the Smart crashes against a larger vehicle.

They crash, the Smart comes to a full deceleration and then starts being pushed back by the larger vehicle which is still decelerating.

Even though both car cabins stay pretty much intact I think the larger car occupants have a much better chance at suffering less injuries.

Something to keep in mind when purchasing your next car, both may have a 5 star safety rating but they're not equal!

Just because language exists for describing things that are out of the ordinary, that doesn't call into question the sincerity or honesty of science. It's not that scientists have to doubt existence of the "unseen", it's that they have nothing to say about existence of the unseen. You can't make predictions about things that can't be observed. As it turns out, things that don't exist happen to look remarkably similar to things that can't be observed, so the language can get a bit muddy when these kinds of things are discussed. You can't observe the intellect, but it exists. You can't observe the wind, except when it moves the leaves. This kind of double talk can get a person pretty wrapped around the axle. But it's really quite simple, that which cannot be observed "or tested for" is effectively non-existent to science. This doesn't mean just "physically observed". We can confirm the existence of an intellect, and we can measure the power of one intellect over another. We can damage consciousness by physically damaging the brain, so we know where consciousness resides. This is very different from the ethereal "unseen" of which you speak. When science refuses to address the supernatural, it doesn't mean that science doesn't believe in it. It just means that science has nothing to say about it. It can't give it any treatment whatsoever. The pseudoscientists who attempt to set up experiments to confirm the existence of the supernatural simply never find anything that would elicit universal belief.

On reading what you wrote here and from watching the video you posted I remembered hearing a couple years ago about people having some knowledge and even starting new habits of the person they received an organ implant from without ever knowing their name and much less anything about the life of the donor.

  8. Chip,

That was my life from about 10 to when I started living on my own at 18 years old, what happened that night was the most memorable and inexplicable thing I ever experienced.

I can see the possibility of dummy rounds but that wasn't the case, the main problem was alcohol, so much alcohol that the next day that person wouldn't remember a thing about the previous hellish night, even when confronted with evidence.

Nothing was planned in advance, every evening started just fine until the drinking (new bottle everyday), even the person drinking didn't know how that night was going to be or how it would end.

There was nothing premeditated or planned about that one night, alcohol led the course of that night just like any of the other nights, at that time it led to the use of a firearm and it was the last time a firearm was used for the remaining years.

  9. This is what happened to me when I was around 12 years old, a .22 revolver fully loaded with all 8 bullets was pointed right at my face from about 2 feet away, the trigger was pulled 3 times and it failed to fire, then the firearm was pointed at a window, the trigger was pulled 2 times and it fired both times.

When it happened I thought the gun had onIy been fired twice at the window, it wasn't until morning when I checked the gun that I realized there were 3 bullets before the 2 that fired with trigger hammer indentations on the bullets, the hammer markings on the 3 that failed were identical to the 2 fired shells.

This was a gun that had never failed before or after that event and I was familiar with that revolver for I had fired it a few times before at targets.

At that time I was shocked when I realized how close I was to dying, years later I learned what russian roulette was and then my memories came back to me of that night, I don't think there's anyone here in the club that would risk playing russian roulette much less having the odds of a perfectly good firearm fully loaded and taking the chance of it being fired 3 times at the face and hoping that it would fail all 3 consecutive times, I can't even imagine the odds of surviving that!

It may not be so to some, but to me it is nothing short of a miracle, there's no way that I should be here today writing/posting this, with those odds I should have been dead decades ago.

One can rationalize until out of breath but I seriously doubt anyone with half a brain would take such odds, I didn't volunteer for what happened to me and wouldn't wish it on anyone, especially a child.

  10. I'm fine with killing this kind of buzz. Adults should be rational enough to think things through more thoroughly than this. The idea that "someone or something" watches over you or intervenes when you're in danger is an obvious manifestation of the human ego. Where was this helpful had for all of the tens of thousands of people who died in traffic accidents last year? What did you do to deserve the heads up, when so many others got killed or injured? It is all coincidence, plain and simple, and to suggest otherwise is offensive to those who have died unexpectedly, and offensive to their devastated families.

    Chip,

How is the original post offensive to the deceased and their families?

  11. That gut feeling we experience, have you ever felt when you're working on a car and this thought pops up in your mind: This part or tool could slip and cut/puncture my hand and then right after that feeling it happens! It's happened to me a few times, usually so fast I had no time to prevent it.

I was just watching a program about a possible sixth sense capable of predicting a immediate future event and even being able to sometimes connect a thought with someone else.

From what I remember, when I was about 10 years old I was in my front yard and heard this motorcycle so I looked to my right and the rider was about a block away from me, for no reason this feeling came to my mind that he was going to crash and right after he did crash, he coiled and rolled a good distance to the left and his motorcycle went to the right. I ran over and he tried to stand up but fell again, there were road rashes and a very deep wide cut just above the right knee. About a minute later this car came by and the driver took him away to the hospital.

Another event, about 9 years later and living here in the states, I was dating this girl with long straight blond hair and this one day I was on my way to see her, when just a few blocks away from her home I came to a stop behind this car, in the back seat I could see the back of the head of this blond girl that looked a lot like my girlfriend, I remember just fixing my eyes on her wondering why she was riding in that car and then for no reason she looked back and locked her eyes with mine and then she turned her head forward again, it felt like she knew I was staring at her, very weird and awkward, to this day it has stuck in my mind as to how did she know someone was watching her?

Both events could have been coincidences but what are the odds?

  12. Crickets....

Well republicans? Where are you? Can any of you explain why you can't support Obama with something other than hearsay from conservative talk shows? When someone rebuts your points you're supposed to either rebut back or concede. Your bias is getting the best of you if you can't do either.

    Chip,

Are you also declaring here that you will always vote for a democrat regardless of good or bad his/her qualifications are?
