Need help wiring a safc2

Then potentiometer will fix that. The reason it does not read right is the safc were designed for a newer type ignition system that has pules that are a lower voltage then the 12v pluses off of the coil. The pot will reduce the range of the voltages pluses to what the safc was designed for. You could do the same thing with resisters, but the pot is easier. You just turn it till the rpm stops jumping and reads true.

 

Since you will be doing tuning based on what rpm you are at it needs to read true and stable.

the one you suggested didn't work enough, I think I need one with more resistance

Ok, if you got it to stop jumping around. Play with the cylinder setting. Quest tuner said to use 2. I do not know the correct cylinder setting for your model safc2.
