  1. selling the lemons race car. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/gigglesnirt/DSCF3652.jpg its a flat body conquest. have clear title for it. comes with: brand new sticky tires brand new race brake pads 16g turbo tubular manifold kirkey race seat crack free rebuilt head rebuilt block(cracked, but all new bearings and piston rings) 6point caged shell boxes and boxes of extra parts looking for 1k$ for everything we have for the car. you can see the build, tons of pictures and all the mods here http://www.driftutah...php?topic=181.0 please text 801-502-1930 if you are interested in the car. possible to part out as well.
  2. so i replaced the freeze plug. replaced and tightened all the exhaust bolts/nuts/studs. started it up. sounded a ton better but still somewhat noisy. drove it around the block. started smoking something fierce. got to driveway, popped hood, shut it off. car is drenched in oil. its coming somewhere between cyls 2 and 3.. no oil lines there, probably a cracked block? its done for
  3. so cleaned the old gas out of the tank. cleaned up the injectors. put fresh gas in and found a few pretty serious issues first, the engine seems like it has a rod knock or something. sounds like a diesel now. second, the middle freeze plug under the exhaust manifold is spewing water. c, drove it around the block and it doesnt want to build any kind of boost anymore. checked the turbo, seems fine. hoping the freeze plug is an easy fix. hoping the rod knock isnt really a rod knock and i just need to adjust lifters or something. hoping the boost pressure problem is just a loose hose clamp somewhere. i have no idea how you guys can love these cars. im trying but its a huge pain in the tail.
  4. i bought the car from dave-o in stock form then my team mate made it colorful. i wouldnt put it past dave-o to post pics and claim it as his own, his close associates, or some other deal. though, i dont think he has seen the car since we trailered it off almost two years ago. so back to the build. we had to change the brass plug on the oil pump to an inset allen head type since the square type pictured was hitting the front cover. also the master kill switch doesnt work anymore so we need a replacement need to drain gas and change fuel filter changed the steering wheel. i mounted it backwards and removed a 1" spacer to give us a more comfortable driving arrangement. we have to move the gauges now though since the newer smaller wheel obstructs most of them. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/doriftokin/IMAG0234.jpg also probably going to thin up the wire harness. oh and new theme for octobers race is http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/gigglesnirt/starionthemelemons.jpg
  5. got everything put back together last night. fired right up but was sputtering pretty bad from the 18month old gas in the tank. seems like oil pressure problem is no longer a problem though
  6. so.. if anyone remembers, the oil pressure was through the roof. last week, a few friends and i pulled the oil pump out and as anticipated, the pressure relief valve was seized. i drilled a small hole into the oil tract to get to the cylinder and knock it out. the cylinder and the bore both had some pretty decent scratches in them from metal running through the pump. after using some emery cloth, i got it pretty cleaned up. the hole that i previously drilled needed to be plugged. after thinking about just welding it up, i decided against it since the metal would most likely not weld very well since it spent its entire life bathed in oil. plus.. i wanted an excuse to use the mill again. so. pictures http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/doriftokin/IMAG0230.jpg punching the hole i drilled, to the correct size for a brass 1/8" npt plug http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/doriftokin/IMAG0231.jpg beveling the hole for an easier thread http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/doriftokin/IMAG0232.jpg starting the tap http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/doriftokin/IMAG0233.jpg finished product also after this was done, the pump gears didnt seem quite right. i split the case open and was greeted with quite a bit of aluminum and ferrous metal shavings in the gear teeth. the walls were pretty scored so this metal was run through the pump while the engine was on and not just filings from my work. cleaned all the filings out and reassembled the pump. i think we are going to have to find a large rare earth magnet and throw in the oil pan to collect any bits of iron still in the system and hope that the engine doesnt tear itself up. next on the list is to put it all together and see how it runs
  7. ill get it back together this weekend and see if that solved it. i didnt put the bottom end together so i dont know if the bearings are correct. i assume they are though since the car ran great for the first half of the race. would be strange for it to suddenly do this if it was an upside down bearing. it makes sense to be the regulator and the reg was stuck so hopefully. ill report back the outcome next week thanks for everyones help
  8. you need to find an enzyme neutralizer most pet odor removal chemicals do this http://www.consonancesolutions.com/neutralizers-agent.html
  9. its not a compression issue. it is a stuck regulator issue it is a fresh rebuild, we will try some 5w30 and see how it does for the race. i dont think the oil thickness, would cause this big of an issue. last night we pulled the oil pump and the piston was seized in the pump. drilled a hole in the bottom of the pump and knocked the piston out. cleaned it up and opened the drain orifice up a bit. reinstalled and it seems like it is not sticking anymore. tonight i will weld the hole i drilled and put it back together to see if it has solved the issue.
  10. i see. if that chart is accurate, it seems that i can shim the valve to force the oil through the cooler. also it makes sense about your suggestion on oil weight. we will try going to a 10/15-40
  11. thanks for the input guys. we have registered for an october lemons event so we dusted the old gal off. going to try to fix the oiling issue today. removing the check valve for the oil cooler and drilling the pressure relief valve orifice bigger. hopefully i find a little sliver of sludge or metal or something keeping the plunger from moving. that would make me happy. ill post pics in the lemons flatty thread with our progress. thanks again!
  12. awesome. ill look for one. inside tire spinning on off camber corners is no fun
  13. yeah its a lot of fun. i have had quite a bit of track time in my life and this is up there with the best. anyone know if there is some kind of cheap lsd for these cars?
