  1. Traded it yesterday morning for an absolutely terrible 1994 Ford Mustang. I actually got yelled at by a few people for making the trade, because the Mustang is jury-rigged to hell. I kind of regret it, but I didn't get anyone showing any interest until, of course, several hours after I traded it away. Just my luck.
  2. I have a 1980 BMW 528i I'm looking to get rid of so I can maybe put the money towards buying a Starion/Conquest. Anyone interested? LOCATION: Temecula, CA (in Riverside County, but near the edge, close to San Diego County). SHIPPING: Person has to either pick it up or pay to have it shipped. PICTURES: http://www.imgur.com/a/cjYkt (the exterior is in great condition, it just needs to be washed, as you can tell from the pictures, though, there are a few areas where the paint has been chipped off, and I forgot to take a picture of under the hood, but I'll post one tomorrow when it's a bit easier to see) MILEAGE: 299,850 PRICE: $1,500 or best offer. I'll totally trade for a Starion/Conquest (that won't happen, but it doesn't hurt to try). RUNS: Yes. MANUAL/AUTOMATIC: Manual. ENGINE MODS: Engine was re-built at some point in the past (not really an "engine mod", though, I don't think). NON-FUNCTIONAL PARTS/FEATURES OR PROBLEMS: The fan clutch needs to be replaced (I bought a new one, I just haven't had a chance to install it). Aside from that, it runs fine. Once the fan clutch is installed, it should run flawlessly. The doors don't lock, and I'm not sure how to fix it, though, I've been told it should be a simple fix. The BMW hood ornament is missing, but I'm sure one can be bought for cheap online. The interior of the car will need a little work (look at the pictures). On the plus side, it has a sunroof, if that's your thing (definitely not my thing). RUST?: None. OPTIONS: Sunroof. DESCRIPTION: A maroon, 1980 BMW 528i. It's in pretty good condition considering its age. The exterior, once it's washed and waxed, will look excellent. Its previous owner drove it somewhat regularly so it drives well, but the fan clutch will need to be replaced before you can drive it long distances. That's really the only major issue with the car. PREFERRED CONTACT METHOD: PM me first. I'll give you my phone number if you want it, but only through PM.
  3. I just realized, I mispoke. Or mistyped, as it were. The wastegate actuator went out and the back pressure from the Turbo failed. It isn't without a Turbo. Apparently, a new fuelpump and alternator were installed a few months ago, as well. The intake and exhaust have been put back on the head. Not sure if that makes any difference or not, though.
  4. All right, I'll just hold out and see if I can't save up for a Starion or Conquest in better condition. Thanks for the help.
  5. My main concern, really, is that the engine or something might have to be rebuilt. If it just needs a little work every so often, that's fine. It's a car I like, so it'll be worth it, and I have family that's far more mechanically inclined than I am, so I'm sure if there's anything I can't handle, they can help me out and I'll actually learn something. I've been wanting a Starion/Conquest for a long time, and if you guys think it's worth it to buy this rather than hold out and hope I have up to $3,000 on-hand when one of these shows up somewhere in decent running condition, then I'll go for it. I don't see these for sale too often here in Southern California (maybe I'm not looking in the right places), and when I do, they can be pretty expensive. Anyway, I will most definitely check out the FAQs. I just wanted to get input from people that have a lot of experience with these cars.
  6. He said the new head gasket needs to be put back on. The wastegate actuator went out and the Turbo failed, but he replaced the actuator. Automatic is fine with me for right now. I just want something I can drive to work and back. I'm just worried about how many miles are on it.
  7. I'm thinking about buying a 1989 Chrysler Conquest TSI Turbo I found on craigslist for $1,000, but I'm not sure if it'll ultimately cost more than it's worth. Anyone have any input? I've been wanting to buy a Starion/Conquest for a while now (my dream car), but if this one will ultimately wind up costing me a lot more than it's worth, then I'll hold out. (Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I'm new to all of this, and tried to put it in the right place). I appreciate any advice on this.
