  1. so i swapped a semi digital cluster into my starion as my old cluster had a bad fuel gauge and was pretty messed up on the backside, i managed to get everything to work except the speed wont read above 0 mph, its not the cable since i turn it with a drill and still get nothing, it read when i initially tested it then i sautered everything together and it hasnt worked since, i have pulled it apart a few times and can find no problems, it rear once and jumped around alot and never read the correct speed but thats all its ever done, any imput?
  2. i dont believe its making 372 either lol but like you said anything is possible, it certainly has work done to it i will find out exactly how much and exactly how much power very soon, any ideas about the 5k rev limiter? or the soft cut limiter? are these stock ignition cut or stock fuel cut? and is the thermo valve required? i have no egr, i want to delete alot of the vacuum lines but the diagrams on here are very confusing
  3. apparently the picture of the broken sensor i have is to big to upload, anyways its right behind the distributor on the water neck below the thermostat, its got 2 vacuum ports on it both facing up, the farthest on out is broken off and i dont know what the sensor is so i cant ask the guys at a parts store
  4. alright so just to start off, i finally bought a second starion, i had one a few years ago, bought it, put a clutch in it the next weekend, and then lost my job the weekend after that and had to sell it (been sad about it ever since) so after a few years i finally stumbled back asswards into a second one, this one is an 87 last one was a 86 both widebodys (love the look) so just to start with the list i have recieved on this particular car as told from the previous owner, my research has proved most of it to be true 1. bored out to a 2.8 with weisco pistons 2. non jetvalve head 3.bigger injectors 4.motor, ecu, and wiring out of a 89 (better fuel mapping?) 5. freshly rebuilt turbo with a full straighpipe (turbo elbow, bend to follow under the car, straight out the back, sounds like a damn diesel..... i like it) 6. i was told it was dynoed at 372 wheel horsepower at 20 psi, unverified but it seems like it might make that much, boost is currently turned down the the clutch is well on its way out, a new one is coming in 2 days then we shall find out for sure problems i am having with this particular car 1. super super rich, i assume its due to running 8 psi with bigger injectors, it pulls hard, one little hickup at around 4.5k then it pulls hard again to 5k before hitting what feels like an ignition cut, super loud backfires and flames, sounds like 2 step launch control but otherwise doesnt effect the daily driving of the car at all 2. i have a few broken vacuum ports right off of the upper water neck that i dont know what they are so i cant replace them till i find out (will post pictures) things i would like to this car so like i said i have a clutch on the way, i also have a wideband on the way and a few other gauges, acurate water temp, oil temp, oil pressure 1. i went to a junkyard today and managed to find a narrow body 84, it had a digital gauge cluster in it, i would like to swap my analog one for the digital one, i have searched but only found results for the technica? cluster, i havent found anything for the early model digital clusters, my fuel gauge doesnt work so i would like to swap the clusters if its possible, i have built plug and play harnesses for the nx digital cluster into 240sx's so wiring is easy for me i just need to know if anyone has actually done it and if its actually possible 2. has anyone made or found brackets to mount a single din radio into the stock location? i managed to wedge mine in but i would like to clean it up and have it actually mount properly 3. the same car i pulled the cluster from has rear window louvers, they are mounted on the top but they dont have the bottom latches, where can i find some and do the narrow body louvers fit a widebody car? 4. my car has no floor mats (typical) the 84 at the junkyard has perfect condition red floor mats( matches my perfectly clean interior) are the mats that say mitsubishi on them oem original floor mats or are the oem original ones only the ones that say starion or conquest?
  5. ok so first of all i will start out with what im working with, the car was made in july of 86, its my understanding that the 86 model cars didnt have secondary injectors and that both injectors were on at all times however my car does have a secondary that isnt on at idle or partial throttle so now for the problem, car runs great, a little misfire that i havent found yet but gets around no problem, about 50% of the time i floor it the secondary sticks open and floods it out imediately, everytime this happens i have to pull the injectors and pull the throttle body off and soak up the puddle of fuel that colects in the intake, after tapping the injector a little bit it closes and i can drive the car a little ways, i just got tired of it so i unplugged the secondary and i have been putt putting around the last 2 days if i absolutely have to drive somewhere so first question, what size are stock injectors? is there a place to buy new ones? even the dealer cant find any and i was also told they are rebuildable? does sending them in to have them cleaned usually work? i can have mine cleaned locally for $25 so im gonna do that anyways but i dont want to waste the money if there is a problem with them that isnt fixed with cleaning
  6. still cant post anywhere alse so i will just put up my question here, i started the starion today, let it warm up and went for a little drive, launched at a stoplight, ran all the way through first and then went into second, let off in second and went to 3rd to cruise, next light turns red so i push in the clutch to stop and the car dies, i try to start it and get nothing, a few seconds later i smell fuel and the car refuses to start and still wont, i was only a few blocks from home so i tow roped it home and its sat on the street for the last 2 hours (thinking maybe it flooded or something) still wont start, turns over just fine but will not fire up, it wont even try to
  7. i will take some pictures tomorrow when i replace the tstat, i figured those injectors were a good idea with the right equipment but i think if anyone ever used them then all the stuff is probably gone by now
  8. also i havent messed with the turbo or even looked at it that much and its night so i cant right now, do these have an internal wastegate? my stock gauge says im running 14psi and the turbo looks bigger than they do in the other stock pictures of these engines
  9. ok there are no lines or electricals for the injectors in the pipe, im thinking that somone might have just put them there to plug the holes but im not sure thats why i asked about them, why does the pcv have to be hooked into the intake manifold on these? as soon as i disconected it and plugged the other side i had significantly less issue with oil spraying out of the dipstick, with it hooked up like stock everytime i opened the hood after hitting full boost the dipstick would be as far out as it could go with the hood in the way and oil sprayed all over the intake manifold, now it just pops out like a quarter inch
  10. so i was looking around for a decent daily driver and came across a 87 starion for $700 natuarally, i went to look at it, clutch was almost gone but other than that it seemed fine so i pay the guy and drive it home, its a great looking car and i really like it but shes fighting me every step of the way clutch change was so easy i did if from the floor with jackstands by myself in a day, afterwards the pedal needed readjusting, got in and drove it and it pulled hard no slipping, pull into the driveway and found that it had sprayed oil out the dipstick, so changed the pcv and no more oil spray but now its starting to overheat shes becoming a project and i already have my 240sx track car so i dont need another project, are they constantly like this or will i stop having problems after a while? everyone i have asked about them says they are nightmares and like to catch on fire among other problems is there a good place to source interior parts for these cars? almost all of the plactic interior pieces are broken and everything shakes and rattles to pieces cause there are no mounting tabs that are still in place the ebrake doesnt work, at all, its extremely hard to pull up and it doesnt affect the brakes at all, is this common? last thing, i have a picture atached of the engine bay, there is alot of stuff unplugged and alot of open vacuum ports, there is also 2 injectors in the intake pipe right next to the intake minifold, did these have secondary injectors like that?
