  1. Good idea cooler is better. I'll pull the dizzy off clean and check vacuum on it. Thanks
  2. Thank you good idea Arizona is dry. I have a place here that's gonna rebuild the steering gear for me. They also rebuild diffs and axles. So that's good I'm sending out the radiator to get fixed and cleaned next week.
  3. All good ideas. Yes I changed all fluids for the things that still hold fluid. The cone filter is long gone I'll check the dizzy. I'm not roading the car yet just diag time I'm essentially re building the whole car.
  4. So after 20 years of this 88 starion not driving I started it up a few days ago. Now I have rebuilt tbi new plugs wires cap rotor new air filter fuel filters and fuel pump cleaned the tank all new hoses including all new vacuum lines. It's idling good smooth no noise from timing I've got good fuel pressure solid spark good oil pressure. Went to try and actually drive it gets to about 3.5k rpm and falls on its tail rpm drops like it would if I had a bad idle air control valve this car doesn't have that so I'm thinking tps maybe any insight would be good I can't go for a longer drive then a few mins cuz the radiator leaks so till I replace that I'm trouble shooting what I can
  5. Thanks I've been under the hood of this thing for a few weeks now just playing wheres waldo tracing all the vacuum seems to be never ending.
  6. I'm new to post on this forum but have been lurking for a long time now I do my best to not ask questions that have been answered 100's of times because i deal with auto mechanics at work all day I know how irratating questions can be asked 10 times a day. I have had an interesting time trying to find a vacuum diagram that will help with what I'm trying to do. Im deleting a/c and abs and the a.i.r system but keeping egr and charcoal system. I dont know if its my computer or just the fact that alot of the posts on this forum about facts are just so old the pic's and links dont show up anymore but any help is greatly appreciated. this is an on going project for me. the car that im bring back to life hasnt run since 96. im basicly bring it back to stock without the abs and a/c and preferably none of the weird 80's emissions crap. also wondering if all the t-adapters were factory because this thing has like 20 of them. any help or maybe links to other sites that still work would be wonderful and if pics are needed will have to wait till I'm home from work. thank you very much
  7. well thank you. I had forgot how much of a nightmare these things can be but that just adds to the fun hopefully this one will be back on the road some time this fall. interesting bit of info on the car i have all of the service records from 1988 up to 96 the owner religiously took the car to the dealer for everything including all of the maintenance service intervals also have the original window sticker this is a non shp car that had the shp wheels put on at the dealer. Its silver sorta black leather interior he claims no one ever sat in the rear seats. I put a battery in to test all of the electronics everything is working. so hopefully no major hiccups. but i know these are problem prone.
  8. well after 10 years i found this starion its an 88 esir auto. I bought it from the original owner. last time this car hit the road was back in 1996. I am currently going through the car checking everything and replacing all the rubber. I have started the car but not under its own power(carb spray) the fuel pump is dead. I'm also removing a/c and abs as this will not be a daily... So far I have rebuilt the throttle body replaced every line containing coolant cleaned the inter-cooler cleaned the oil cooler removed most of the a/c stuff.I have cleaned the gas tank. replaced the fuel filter. I'm replacing the inter-cooler hoses with silicone ones. they are dry rotted. I had an 89 conquest years ago loved it and lost it but this one is not going anywhere. located in Phx az
  9. I need a stock working primary injector for a 88 esir. Plastic broken on mine
