I recently bough an 87 that had a blown head gasket and it is apart.  I am in the process of cleaning that mess up at the moment.

The EGR was just looped off with vacuum lines.  I would like to delete it completely.  Is there any issues with either tapping the port going to the head to put a pipe plug in it or just finding the right sized plug to tap in there?  It would keep a little heat out of the intake and allow removal of the valve best I can tell.

Iíve always just made a small block off plate and bolted that over the holes.

Yes, you can drill/tap the port in the head and install a plug.

Pretty self explanatory but figured I'd mention it, even if you plug the port in the head, you will still need a block off plate for where the EGR valve was...or leave the EGR valve on provided it is not stuck open.
