Hey all! I have been working on my car for the past several weeks, with lots of help from ESI-RType? So far, I am really happy with my new setup. The car is much more drivable now. One funny problem has cropped up. Occasionally, the car will just stop dead while running. I've been doing lots of test drives in my neighborhood, so I haven't been stranded yet. But it's still a hassle to be going along and have the car quit running. The first few times it did it, I would unhook the battery and hook it back up and it would start back up. I got suspicious of some poorly connected wires from the distributor to the ignition. I put some shrink tube over an area that was just bare wire and decided to come back to it later and solder things together and put on some new shrink tube. Well, the car has died a few times again. The last time when it died, I cycled the key a few times to see if it was an ignition switch thing. I cycled the key, but I didn't get power back. The seatbelt still moved and the door open light was on, but nothing connected to ignition would come on. I got out and just jiggled the wire that I had put shrink tube on and got back in the car and sure enough I had power back. I turned the car back on and drove it back home. The hitch is - I can't just wiggle the wire and make the car stop running. No matter how I bend or shake the wire, it doesn't make the car die. But again, when it did die, I just jiggled the wire a bit and it brought the power back. The wire I jiggled is the one with the blue shrink tube on it. I have a picture here of the wiring I am talking about. It's the three wires from the distributor to the MSD 6AL ignition, with one wire going to the wiring harness. Any thoughts? Other things I should check? I plan on taking these three wires apart and soldering them together and putting on shrink tube. http://i509.photobucket.com/albums/s332/ghostdog11/DistributorToIgnition.jpg

Ok so heres whats going on I wired my msd 6a ignition box and tach adapter up basically just like this http://image.carcraft.com/f/9295769+w750+st0/ccrp_0805_02_z+tech_questions+MSD_wiring_schematic.jpg there isnt a tach adapter in that wirng but its white and red wires are in the same place as the igntion box. The problem Im having is as soon as I put the hot and ground wire to the msd ignition box on the battery. its as if im turning the key to on inside the car. the seat belts move, guages come on, makes beeping sounds, etc... NO key in the car. Im stumped! could there be something wrong with my ignition box? I did buy it used. The only thing I can think of that could possibly be wrong with the wiring is the ignition box and my ecu and my new injector, fuel pump relays are all sharing the same 12 volt switched wire. I would love love love some help of any kind.. Ideas anything... Thanks for looking
