  1. When installing the Distributor the marks are supposed to be aligned like the pic below BEFORE the TEETH MESH with cam gear. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e82/silverquest/PQ%20manual%20pics/album_pic-15.jpg once seated all the way in and the cam - dizzy gears are meshed properly, the marks do not align anymore. it should look like the pic below. in the Pic below... it is hard to see but the Dimple has rotated slightly towards the front of the head. or front of the car. this is normal once the gears have meshed. the proper installation of the distributor. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e82/silverquest/PQ%20manual%20pics/album_pic2-5.jpg if you notice in the pic above at far right of edge in pic is the distributor for spark. the rotor ALIGNS with the phillips screw. the red line is in line with the rotor and the phillips screw. the screw faces to the right in the above pic. this is how it needs to be with the engine at top dead center. please contact me with any questions or if i need to make corrections to what i wrote above.

  5. Hey all! I am back to working on my Conquest and am trying to wrap up some issues from late last Fall. I have a new cam and rocker arms in the car and I went back to the stock MAF. Things run so much better now! However, after all those changes, the car now seems to randomly die. It just shuts itself totally off. It is an electrical problem, because you can go back and try to turn the key and nothing happens. Unhook and rehook the battery and you can fire it up again. After about 20 minutes, it turns itself off again. Anyway, first I am trying to "tune up" the distributor. I have pulled it off and will clean it up, and replace the cap and rotor. I could order those bits from RockAuto, or I could pick them up from a local parts store. The NAPA warehouse nearby had the Beck Arnley replacement cap and rotor in stock. When I looked on RockAuto, the Airtex / Wells parts were listed as the OEM replacement. Does anyone have any recommendations for one brand over the other? I have read good things on this forum in the past about Beck Arnley, but I have also noticed that Airtex / Wells seems to be doing most of the reproduction electrical bits for the 2.6. Thanks in advance for any help, Bobby

  9. Had my Conquest for two years and still has the same problem. Though I've replaced alot of the ignition, the original problem is still there. What I'm experiencing is like a miss when I get on the gas at load. The engine stutters and I experience loss of power. Especially up hills (greater load). Now I see alot of people say, 'check the vac advance', but I've replaced it and tested the new one. The engine has been timed, properly, and everything but the distributor itself and the ignitor have been replaced. I'd rebuild it but no one has kits. Any Ideas?
