Would you accept a free paint job by MAACO?
pure_insanity replied to mstieg's topic in Just plain ol' B.S.
X 10,000. I actually kicked a customers car out of my shop because he told me he wanted to have macco paint it after i was fi isbed with a whole bunch of custom body work. I dont want that ish connected to anything i put my name on. i also will refuse to do body work on a car if i know its been painted by macco or something of the sort. Years ago, i took in a truck to repair the quarter and tailgate. Ground back the old pInt. Did my work and as soon as i primed it, i had busted paint all over the place. Another two days of time and few hundred dollars of my money to correct it and i had learned my lesson. -
Man this thread really blongs in the b.s. Section. Its full of some serious b.s. I dont get what the deal is w owning a sq. Sure it may keep you closer to the community in some manner of thinking, but how about the person who owned a sq for 20 years and doesnt at the moment, but seriously has a true love for them and this community. When i first got involved with sq's, i had no idea i was getting a extended family out of the deal. Ive made lots of great friends and learned many things that i might not have if i didnt get involved with the club. I now feel like i can travel to about anywhere in the u.s. And if i needed help ive got a second family that would help or be glad to visit for a while. Thats not something you fi d just everywhere and is one of the largest things that keep me on this site. Lets face it, our cars are somewhat delapidated due to age and while they are fun, they are not very fast by todays standards. If i was here for the cars, i would have left long ago. So how does someone owning one of these slow, old, ancient technology cars have a bearing on his love for the community? Sounds sort of closed mi ded to me.

Holy crap @the price. Wouldnt a stockish fuel pump and some nitrous nozzles do the job cheaper? I like the reaults but not sure i can drop the cash for it.

Yep, im running theirs on my car. Great stuff

I bought my first quest w a title that some one had signed it, then marked thru his name as if they decided not to buy it. This voided the tittle and tittle office tells me ive got to have the last owner apply for a new tittle. No such luck w that, seems car had been thru about ten diff owners and no one had tittled it untill me. Try to fi d the previous owner and he was one of the few who gave all in iraq some years before. So either way he aint applying for a clean tittle. So now i ask the tittle office what the fzzz do i do now? I had to do a tittle bond thru my insurance company. They had to send papers to the capitol and research there areno liens and its not listed as stolen. Had to take it to the police dept and have its vin plates inspected to verify it hadnt been tampered w. And fork over 250$. I ended up getting a clean tittle but jeeeeeez what a load of crap. After all that i got pulled over about two yrs later cause a cop ran my tag in traffic. Pulled me over cause the new tittle says car is blk when it should have been bl for blue. Car was atlantic blue. I promptly told the cop off and gave him a piece of my mi d for wasting my time over something so stupid. Hadnt he ever heard of a car being painted some other color? Told him i worked in a body shop and it happens at least once a week. After i got done chewing his arse out, he decided to let me go and limped his freshly reamed self back to his car. All that crap from someone marking out a name on a tittle. B.s. I tell you.

Makes me think about the cts. Coolant temp sensor. That thing will do some funky stuff. The wiring plug to the cts on most cars ive seen looks pretty poor.

Man, i hope that was some kind of freaky orgy. Otherwise, why on earth would you be that kind of close with three other people? Sounds uncomfortable.

Too dirty ? You havent seen mine. Ive got a great shop , 55x35 three bays, and every friggen tool known to man in about 6.5 tool boxes. Unfortunately, its got about 20 years worth of hoarded up stuff i cant bring myself to throw away. The junk keeps my mini truck that resides in the shop, and the tractors and lawn mowers safe and hidden. All the junk doubles as a security system, no way i would try to walk thru there in the dark with me knowing where stuff is. Any thief is going to end up w a broken leg or worse trying to sneak in the dark in my shop. -

Where did you put the bung to get the exhaust evec. As in how far down the exhaust? And do you have any sort of measurement to know just what kind of vacum its pulling under boost. -
Get in touch w dave87questtsi. Hell of a good guy and one kick arse welder. At one point he was working up some aluminum radiators to sell to the community but he never went thru w it. Im pretty sure hes got the r&d done and knows what you need. Dave is the man for whatever aluminum welding you may need. Intakes, pipes, radiators. Pretty sure he will even try some head work.

Watch some of those guys on ebay. Ive seen the same item from the same seller listed for different prices. I think they hope to catch the idiots with wording and get a few extra dollars. Or the listing will expire for the cheaper one and they will catch the late running guys. Also some of them will have one add listed lower priced but high shipping charge and another listing will be higher w free shipping. One way makes a little money, the other makes more.

Found out why I had so much trouble welding recently

This is hilarious. Not the fact that you need glasses but the fact that harry chimes in. Thats right up harry's line of work. -

Yea, ive got to agree w harry. Dave aka 87questtsi does some seriously nice work. Probably one of the best i have ever seen. If he livedcloser to me i would have him doing my aluminum work instead of me doing it. Just dont call him a hobbyist, hes far beyond that. -
Being a cobb county tag. Maybe jonboy might know the car. Looks pretty nice

I can do it. Like said before im using aluminum mig, but ive had pretty reasonable success at sealing water ports. I've done a few intakes and also several aluminum radiators. And to find your leaks you use the magnetic nuclear paints thatdraw thru any pinholes. Shows you every time. Get with me if your interested. -
Im with ucw on this. Dont bother to buy the r12. The quest i used to own still had working air but was low on freon. I pulled it down anx put it back with r12 becausd i had it on the shelf and i thought it was going to be colder. About the same time i made air work on my current quest but did it with r134. I cant tell the difference. Both get cold and all that jazz. Savs your money and just buy the 134. Its a quarter of the price.

I vote for piston skirt wear, letting the piston slap side to side when it changes from up stroke to down. Ive heard lots of engines develop this and still live for a while. Of course at 235k, you know bearings have to be worn along w piston skirts, wristpins, timing chain, valve guides etc.

Yall speak for yourselves. I remember those dudes from way back in the day -
Mine is named b..... Itch, and sometimes called baby nowadays. I swear to god my car is female. Back when i first built it and the mpi was giving me such nightmares, she really broke down on me a few times and gave me so much trouble, every time the first words out of my mouth was you little b....itch. So it stuck. Now since i have got most of the kinks worked out and she brings me home everyday i call her baby.
